Heyla!

As promised, my #BLM, #AOC, and #BIPOC content in my newsletter and on my website will remain indefinitely for anyone who wants or needs it. It's important so it will not be taken down. If anyone has suggestions for an addition, feel free to send the info my way. Thanks!

Fair warning, this will be a pic heavy newsletter. I hope you like images. LOL
Some of you may remember that I was deep in the heart of home makeover for a few months. I painted, built, refurbished, created, and designed until I had a workspace at home that I enjoy. I also refinished the half-bath with a steampunk vibe. I still have a few odds and ends to complete but over all I really like my private oasis in this crazy house! The cats like it too.

I'm only going to share the Before and After pics of the office, you'll have to wait until next month for the steampunk half bath.

Bonus picture is the running medal holder I ordered and mounted on custom stained wood for my wife. I used the same stain technique that I used on the new butcher block bathroom counter. (I wouldn't/couldn't run if someone tied bacon to a stick and dangled it in front of my face)

On to the cool news...
I recently commissioned some artwork for the romantic couples in my books. The artist is Holly Bunn. She was recommended by a few other authors and I absolutely adore her work. Send her a message on Twitter, Instagram, or just email  (h.chesher@yahoo.com) her if you're interested. Or drop me a line and tell me if you like them.

#funfact - The outfits worn by Castellan and Olivienne above are from The Lost Temple of Psiere, which will come out November 1st.

Author Spotlight
The Author Astronaut of the Month for August is C H Clepitt! She has a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of the West of England and a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama. Clepitt's Master’s Dissertation focused on little known 18th Century playwright Susannah Centlivre, and her novels are extremely dialogue driven. It has often been observed that they would translate well to the screen. Read more about CH below!

Awards
Nothing here but keep your fingers crossed for me next year, eh? Also, did you find any of my books award-worthy? If so, drop a line and let me know.

Features
Burn it Down was featured on Autostraddle when they posted an article a few months ago titled: Eight Great Angsty Lesbian Romance Books. I'm proud to say my novel was one of the eight. It was pretty exciting that my dark horse contemporary dramatic romance would get so much traction with the reading community. Click on the article title to check it out.

Publishing Updates:

  • Regal Crest Enterprises will be under new ownership as of January 1st, 2020.The publishing company was bought by our Author Liaison's company, Flashpoint Publications. Patty Schramm has some great ideas going forward and I'm excited for this next evolutionary step for the RCE stable of authors. I will miss my publisher, Cathy, more than I can express but now she'll have time to spend with the grandbabies.
  • Because of the changes, if you were previously planning on submitting a manuscript to RCE, go ahead and send it to Flashpoint instead. Most of the stuff will not change with the exception of potentially adding services that RCE previously didn't have.
  • I've also taken over post scheduling for the Regal Crest Twitter page (Which will convert to Flashpoint January 1st), the Regal Crest Facebook page, AND the Flashpoint Facebook page. How fun. LOL
  • Do you need reading material but don't have a big budget right now? Don't forget, all my short stories, as well as my short and long fan fiction can be found FREE on AO3.

Writing Updates:

  • My writing has been woefully lacking the past few months. I promise to get back on track soon. I have goals to meet!

[START AUTHOR TRANSMISSION]

Name: C H Clepitt
Publisher: Self published
Reason you started writing: I’ve always written. Ever since I was small I’ve loved telling stories.

Next book to release & when: Eye of the Beholder  - Released June 2020
Why we should read it: Because I asked nicely? Seriously, though, I never know what to say to these sort of questions, so I asked one of my beta readers. I did not expect this, or pay her!
“You know that feeling when you unexpectedly stumble across something so perfect, so pure that it seems to answer a question you didn’t even know you were asking? That’s why you should read this novella. C H Clepitt’s queer retelling of this classic fairy tale is exceptional in every detail from the setting in 1930s France to the nature of the “beast”. Give this queer fairy tale a try, I know it will become your new head-canon too.”

Genres that you've written: Sci Fi, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Comedy, Cosy Romance, Satire, Contemporary and more!
List of published books: (Listing the 1st in each series, see Clepitt's Amazon page for all)

  •  A Reason to Stay
  • A Blessing in Disguise
  • Curtain Call
  • I Wore Heels to the Apocalypse
  • Lineage: A Beginning
  • My Dream Woman
  • Or What You Will
  • Pilot
  • The Book of Abisan

Name something you're proud of in regards to your writing: Every time someone says they enjoyed my writing, or it helped them I feel proud and honoured.

Cats or Dogs: Both, but at the moment I have a cat with 3 ½ legs called Cass. 🐈🙀 K. Aten notes: Perhaps Aileen could have been a better name? But Cass sounds like a lovely kitty! 💕
Coffee/Tea/Water: Coffee in the morning, tea after lunch and water if I’m thirsty.
Weapon of choice during Zombie Apocalypse: Sword. Never goes out of style, never runs out of bullets.
K. Aten notes: My thinking exactly! Clepitt's on MY team now. LOL
Hobbies: When I’m not quarantined I play netball and love going to the cinema with friends. Since I’ve been quarantined I’ve been drawing a lot more, and I’ve taken up felting! Educational Moment (because you KNOW I had to look it up): Felting is the process of producing felt, a textile or fabric that by combining and compressing the loose fibers or hair. Now YOU know too.
Do you fanfic? If so, favorite ship: I do not fanfic, but if I did I would kill that disastrous Chakotay/7 thing they did at the end of Voyager, and rewrite the entire last series of Lost Girl!

Eye of the Beholder: A Reimagining of Beauty and the Beast (Magic Mirror Book 1) by C H Clepitt
When pressure from his materialistic children turns Claude into a thief, it is down to his youngest daughter to set things right. Angelique agrees to take her father’s place as prisoner to what she is told is a hideous beast.
Angelique soon discovers that the so called beast is nothing more than Rosalie, a princess cursed to remain trapped in a castle, unless the curse can be broken, something she assures her is impossible.
Angelique does not believe in the impossible, and sets about trying to find a way to save her new friend, who she is rapidly growing to love.

Eye of the Beholder is the first in a series of queer fairy tale retellings in C H Clepitt’s Magic Mirror Collection.
