I'm gonna warn you right now that this newsletter is CHOCK FULL, so fasten your seatbelts and get ready! (*whispers* If you want to skip to the new  release announcement with the super secret excerpt link, click the Publishing shortcut in the header bar)

November 1st means another year of the haunted hospital has come and gone only this year the bloody mask was completely necessary. Dun, dun, dun! If you know me at all then you know that my Halloween involves full prep for the "Howell E.R.", my murderous garage/hospital. This is the VIDEO taken a few years ago when I had less props. Below are a few pics of my office on October 30th, the day of our Gay-Straight-Alliance hosted Zoom contest for my entire office building. I unpacked some of my hospital accessories a day early to really pull off my doctor costume. I even bloodied up a new lab coat and Ethel's scrubs and created fake hopital IDs.
But no matter what I do for October 31st, we all know the scariest day is yet to come...November 3rd!

Per my usual during Covid-times, here is your monthly meme collection to force a smile before the stress hits over the next couple days (for those in the "not so" United States)

Hey, friends? Do you remember when I hosted the giveaway for my birthday and ran the poll to see which book Holly Bunn worked on next? After a little delay due to technical difficulties, she totally finished the characters from Remember Me, Synthetica. I think it looks awesome, how do you all feel about it? The picture of Emily, little Anna, and Alex is just below the poll. I've already written up the request for Children of the Stars and sent it off to her.

If you'd like more information on Holly, you can find her in the following places: Twitter, Instagram, or just email  (

Are you still with me? Good!

Remember Me, Synthetica is one of the two November book reads in the Facebook group, All Stars Book Club.
About their group: We read f/f (lesbian) fiction - primarily Fantasy & Sci-Fi, and books that give voices to marginalized characters. We are a group of enthusiastic readers, and our group is run by readers. Not only am I one of the featured authors, but one of my favorite fellow authors (and former Author Astronaut of the Month), Rae D. Magdon, is the other with her book, Lucky 7!

The read begins November 2nd and the Q&A for both books will take place at the end of the month, dates to be posted later. If you want to participate and see fun bonus author bits and get your burning questions answered, you'll need to JOIN because it's a private group. If you want to participate in the Q&A session, that's a separate group (to protect authors who are shy? IDK) and you'll have to go here: All Stars Book Club Q&A

Author Spotlight
Our awesome Author Astronaut of the Month for November is fellow Regal Crest author, Hope Milam. Hope is married with one child and two aging shihtzus. She lives in a small town on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Hope is an avid reader, a part time gamer, and a die hard Saints fan (Who Dat!). She like romantic walks to the taco truck and the color black. She also says that she'll bring a few lighters when it’s time to burn down the patriarchy.

The Lost Temple of Psiere - TBD

TBD Author and editor, Jae, recently posted 12 WLW & Lesbian Phone or Online Romance Novels. It was my luck to have Rules of the Road make the list.

Burn it Down was featured on Autostraddle when they posted an article a few months ago titled: Eight Great Angsty Lesbian Romance Books. I'm proud to say my novel was one of the eight. It was pretty exciting that my dark horse contemporary dramatic romance would get so much traction with the reading community. Click on the article title to check it out.

Writing Updates:

  • I started writing again, then got sidetracked by the last few edit passes of my new release. However, November means NaNoWriMo and I WILL be participating. My goal is to utilize the motivation generated by this event to finish my current WIP, Elemental Attraction. Are you participating? Check out my PROFILE and friend me! Right now I'm at 54,000 words so nano should just about wrap it up. (I hope)
Elemental Attraction
Two people find themselves in a quandary. Aderri—a powerful dragon shifter with some light defensive magic and Ellys—a half-elven swordswoman for hire, one of the best across the six nations.
When Aderri gets news that she must come home for the naming ceremony of a new hatchling, she's forced to hire Ellys to see her safely across a nation on the brink of war and into her home country. Of course things are never simple as they seem. Not only do they have to traverse the land between two hostile kingdoms, but Aderri's Clan expects her to return with a romantic interest. So, for the added promise of triple Ellys' normal fee, the half-elf agrees to pretend to be Aderri's suitor.
Ellys and Aderri have to convince a Clan full of magical mixed-shifters for a week that creatures of differing elements can burn with the flames of love. Caught between the weight of the past and expectations of the future, they must find their true destiny within the heat of fire.

Publishing Updates:

  • I know you've been so patient with me because I've delayed the announcement until WAAAAY down the newsletter but...
The Lost Temple of Psiere is available right now. What are you waiting for? As a bonus, I've put an excerpt on my website. But you have to click the picture button below to get to it. Shhh, don't tell! This bonus excerpt hasn't been posted ANYPLACE else. As a matter of fact, there isn't even a link to the super secret excerpt page on the actual website, this is literally your ticket in. Push the button, you know you want to!

Are you ready to buy the book now? Click book cover below to go to the sales page, or you can find it at Bella Books, Regal Crest, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble.
  • Regal Crest Enterprises will be under new ownership as of January 1st, 2020.The publishing company was bought by our Author Liaison's company, Flashpoint Publications. Patty Schramm has some great ideas going forward and I'm excited for this next evolutionary step for the RCE stable of authors. I will miss my publisher, Cathy, more than I can express but now she'll have time to spend with the grandbabies.
  • Because of the changes, if you were previously planning on submitting a manuscript to RCE, go ahead and send it to Flashpoint instead. Most of the stuff will not change with the exception of potentially adding services that RCE previously didn't have.
  • I've also taken over post scheduling for the Regal Crest Twitter page (Which will convert to Flashpoint January 1st), the Regal Crest Facebook page, AND the Flashpoint Facebook page. How fun. LOL
  • Do you need reading material but don't have a big budget right now? Don't forget, all my short stories, as well as my short and long fan fiction can be found FREE on AO3.

K. Aten

Author at Regal Crest Enterprises
"Some words end the silence, others begin it."

Name: Hope Milam
Publisher: Regal Crest Enterprises which will become Flashpoint Publications after January 1, 2021
Reason you started writing: I am a big reader. I always have been, even as a child. I wanted to create my own characters and worlds people could get lost in from the time I was in 1st grade.

Next book to release & when: That is a good question. K. Aten notes: Hope's most recently release is Welcome Home Bailey, which you can see the link for at the bottom. I have one that I’m shopping around (publisher undecided) and two that I’m currently working on. I have several that keep trying to butt in as well. K. Aten notes: Don't we all?
Why we should read it: It’s quirky and a bit odd. A little unreliable narrator mixed with a little mystery, Southern charm, and a hint of sci-fi.
Genres that you've written: Mystery, general lesbian fiction. Mostly all have a Southern slant to them.
List of published books/novellas:

  •  Mississippi Blues (self published)
  • All that Jazz (self published)
  • Breaking the Waves (self published)
  • Murders at the Lille Mansion (self published)
  • Welcome Home, Bailey (Regal Crest)

Name something you're proud of in regards to your writing: I can see the growth in my style.
Click HERE to see all of Hope's books on Amazon.US.

Cats or Dogs: Both, although I currently have two dogs. 🐈🐕
Sweet tea,  but coffee at Waffle House when I need to brainstorm. I’m a dedicated Coke drinker.
K. Aten notes: Sweet tea is a HUGE nope for me!🤢🤮LOL
Weapon of choice during Zombie Apocalypse: I’d have to go with a sword or at least a very big knife.
Hobbies: PlayStation, reading, planning trips that hopefully one day I’ll be able to take again.
Do you fanfic? If so, favorite ship: Yes I do. Supercorp is what I'm reading now. 🢀😍
K. Aten notes: #Supercorp! *swoons* Yet another woman after my own heart!

Welcome Home Bailey by Hope Milam

Bailey Cooper is a guitarist in a metal/punk band. With the band on an extended break, the 43 year old has nothing but time on her hands and a bad case of writer’s block. A call for wedding help brings her home to Bayview, her hometown.
While Bailey has mastered her inner demons, she’s never come to terms with a lot of things she keeps buried in Bayview. This trip home will force her to face her mother, her parentage, the results of her actions and Beth, her one true love.
