This is my Covid hair.

The world is weird right now. Dangerous and strange. Sometimes the days feel like they travel at the speed of light and others have the consistency and pace of molasses. I mean, spring of 2020 feels likes three years crammed into one but it's already May.

Despite being a new award winner (see Awards below), my creativity and writing are both at an all-time low. But even so, I'm faring well with the stay at home order. My wife, not so much. I know a lot of people aren't either so yeah, I do want a resolution sooner rather than later. But I want everyone safe even more. So stay safe my friends. And read about my newest news below.

A few months ago I was asked to participate in the Curve Media virtual festival and of course I said yes. So this Saturday, May 2nd at 6 pm EST, I'll be live with my covid hair. Three authors (Myself, Reba Birmingham, & Karen F. Williams) are participating in a panel called: Supernatural Storytelling Presented by The Golden Crown Literary Society. Sallyanne Monti will be the host and each author will do a five minute reading then participate in Q&A.

Any donations made are greatly appreciated and will be used to help support the wonderful artists of our LGBTQI community. Click the image below if you want to sign up and join us Saturday. (Tomorrow)

Author Spotlight
Kathleen Knowles is our May Author Astronaut of the Month. Check out her information at the bottom of the newsletter and give her some love. Kathleen Knowles lives in San Francisco with her spouse and pets. By day, she works for the University of California, San Francisco. Her upcoming novel, Trade Secrets, will be released in August 2020.

The Lesfic Bard Awards announced the winners of their 2019 award contest on April 19th. I'm proud (and surprised) to say that my novel Burn It Down won for best drama. The award itself made of crystal and is in the shape of a book. It's also quite beautiful with its rainbow graphic. (The wife liked it) I also want to congratulate all the other winners and finalists, well done!

Publishing Updates:

  • I am currently doing the typeset review of Remember Me, Synthetica. When I'm finished it will be sent off to the printer and the manuscript will move on to be converted into an eBook. That will be my final review. Then I suppose it will go up for pre-order. As far as I know, the release is still scheduled for July 1. If that changes I'll include the new release date in the relevant newsletter.
  • With Synthetica through the editing phase, I anticipate that we'll be starting Lost Temple soon.
  • Do you need reading material but don't have a big budget right now? Don't forget, all my short stories, as well as my short and long fan fiction can be found FREE on AO3.

Writing Updates

  • My Myth World funny fantasy fauxmance novel has pretty much been on hold for more than a month now. It's hard to write light and funny when there are so many distraction everywhere. It's hard to write at all. I'm still hoping to finish this one sometime in 2020. Current word count: 28800.
  • Because I've been so distracted lately I decided that I'm going to write whatever my brain wants. As a result I started another novel, the previously considered Whispers in the Dark. I'm not sure how spooky it will be, but it's definitely taken a quirky turn. The MC is a private investigator to pay her bills, but is also a paranormal investigator as a hobby. She can see and talk to ghosts, and accidentally picked up three over the years. Stuck with her permanently are: a gay black man named Steve who died in the 80's, Benjamin Franklin, and Gabrielle Dubon, an old retired French prostitute. They guide her, help her, and drive her crazy. Current word count: 2700

"Some words end the silence, others begin it."

Name: Kathleen Knowles
Publisher: Bold Strokes Books
Reason you started writing: I think I have something to say about humans and the process of falling in love.
Next book to release & when: Trade Secrets, August 2020
Why we should read it: It’s a roman à clef about Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes, workplace romance, light thriller aspects and opposites- attract.
K. Aten notes: I totally had to look up roman à clef. For those of you who don't know, it's a novel in which real people or events appear with invented names #FunFacts
Genres that you've written: Contemporary f/f romance, historical f/f romance and general fiction
List of published books:
Awake Unto Me
Forsaking All Others
A Spark of Heavenly Fire

Name something you're proud of in regards to your writing: I try as best I can to get historical details right. I research a lot.
