Guess what? My novel, Children of the Stars is the Golden Crown Literary Society Book Club read for March. The chat takes place March 4th (this coming Wednesday) 8-9 PM EST. You have to be a GCLS member to sign up, but join me there for a 5 minute reading,  Q&A session, as well as a chance to win your own signed copy or eBook. (1 winner drawn from chat attendees) Click the image below to go to the signup page.

Morgan Wright animated two of my book covers. I won't include them in this newsletter but if you go to the main page of my website you can see them there. Check her out, order your own. She animates all genres (with a large focus sci-fi and fantasy) except erotica and exceedingly violent horror (i.e. no images with a great amount of gore, adult content etc).

Our March Author Astronaut of the Month is none other than the award winning author, Rae D. Magdon!

If you remember, I entered multiple books from the 2019 publishing season across 4 different awards. (Lambda Literary, Golden Crown Literary Society, Rainbow Awards, and Lesfic Bard Awards) My goal this year was to win 2 awards for any of my books. The only award with results to day was the Rainbow Awards, which I got a 3rd runner up in the sci-fi category. Still crossing my fingers, let's hope for a win or two elsewhere.

As usual, keep watching for my promotional work over the next few months on the following sites.

  • Golden Crown Literary Society - What winning a Goldie means to me (on the banner at the bottom)
  • GCLS Book Club will feature Children of the Stars as the March read. You can see what's coming by joining the GCLS Members-only Book Club Facebook page. Note: you must be a GCLS member to join in.
  • - Read about my Dessert Island Book choices.
  • Jae Author - I've sent 3 books to be used in Jae's new The F/F Fiction Crossword Challenge coming in 2020

Publishing Updates:

  • Remember Me, Synthetica is now with the 2nd editor and nearing completion. The best thing about it? Her words about the novel: "This novel is very tight and well written. The pace is great. The kitten was a great touch! All in all a very solid sci-fi novel that in my opinion is award worthy." I can't ask for better than that, right? (Tentative release June/July)
  • Don't forget, all my short stories, as well as my short and long fan fiction can be found FREE on AO3.

Writing Updates

  • My beta reader declared that The Lost Temple of Psiere is the best novel I've ever written. That's good news for you if you're a fan of the series, but maybe concerning for me pressure for the 3rd and final book on my part, right?
  • My as-of-yet un-named Myth World funny fantasy fauxmance novel is still developing. After obsessing for a week straight over the dice game I created FOR this novel (making up the design, rules, and drawing on blank dice), I finally got back to writing. It's not the speediest of stories to lay down simply because book release months are always busy. However I have made it about 26,000 words in so...not too bad!

Name: Rae D. Magdon
Publisher: Desert Palm Press
Reason you started writing: I’m queer as fuck and got bored reading about straight people.
Next book to release & when: Lucky 8 will be available in April, 2020
Why we should read it: While Lucky 7 explored themes of what it means to be human (in a cyberpunk setting), Lucky 8 explores the question: what do we owe each other? How to we combat forces larger than ourselves (capitalism, climate change, etc.) without giving into despair? And, of course, there are virtual dinosaurs.
Genres that you've written: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Cyberpunk, Urban Fantasy, Mystery/Thriller.
List of published books:
Lucky 7 (Goldie and Rainbow Award Winner)
Fur & Fangs
Amendyr Series (The Second Sister, Wolf’s Eyes, The Witch’s Daughter, The Mirror’s Gaze)
Dark Horizons Series (Dark Horizons, Starless Nights)
Death Wears Yellow Garters
All The Pretty Things
Name something you're proud of in regards to your writing: Winning the GCLS Sci-Fi/Fantasy Award in 2019!

Cats or Dogs: Cats
Coffee/Tea/Water: Water
Weapon of choice during Zombie Apocalypse: Long range? Crossbow. Short range? Machete.
Do you fanfic? If so, favorite ship: This is an impossible question and I refuse to pick a favorite. Just go read my (300+ free) works on AO3
