USG members and friends are committed social justice agents. Each month, we take actions to improve our society and world. 
The USG building remains closed as a precaution against spreading the Coronavirus. Groups of no more than twelve people may request an outdoor gathering space under the Members tab (sign-in needed) at Most events are held virtually. Please check in advance with the committee or group leaders for necessary information.

Learn the progress USG members are making in acknowledging the use of Indigenous peoples' traditional land, find ways you can show respect for Native Americans’ contributions, and share the book you read for February's African American Read In.

Racism Book Study Group – Monday, March 8 - 7:30pm
We will discuss chapters 1-4 and exchange experiences and enhance our methods for using the body practices in My Grandmother’s Hands. Please do the reading prior to the meeting.

Join the growing teams of USGers who are working to improve the world. You can help with the Social Justice initiatives for immigration, POWER, Criminal Justice, Climate Change, and/or New Sanctuary. To join this zoom meeting or contact the Social Justice chairs for more information email:

Share the Plate (STP) – The Maternity Care Coalition will receive this month’s STP donations. They provide vital needs for families with children from 0 to 3 years old.

NEW - Trauma Healing Body Practices – Thursdays – 8:00-8:20pm
This group is using the book 
My Grandmother's Hands by Resmaa Menakem. Each week members will take turns leading body practices designed to heal racial trauma suffered by all peoples affected by the racism in our world. You do not need to have read the book to join.

Food Collection – Wednesdays, March 3, 17 and 31 – 9:00-11:00am in person OR any day by appointment.

Share your bounty and help needy families. You can drop non-perishable food off every other Wednesday in the USG Courtyard for St. Vincent's Food Pantry, where a volunteer will wait to collect and deliver.

CAMI - Weekly Meetings - Wednesdays, 5:30pm
CAMI (Coalition Against Mass Incarceration) volunteers help people navigate the criminal justice system. You’ll receive training and work with Germantown
Participatory Defense Hub. All volunteers must have training. Please contact to learn about the meetings.

For Help with Financial Needs: A Covid Financial Relief Fund has been established with the goal of raising and distributing $50,000 to those experiencing financial hardship. Email or contact USG Staff for details in complete confidence.
