Hello friends and colleagues,

It's been a while since I sent a newsletter. Like many of you, I have been busy adapting to the impacts of COVID-19. I have also experienced personal losses that impacted me deeply.

Fortunately, through it all, I have had wonderful support from family, friends, colleagues and clients. And hopefully I have been able to offer support in return. I hope that all of you are also getting the support you need. We all need it right now.

While like most people, I worry a lot, I am also optimistic. Maybe it's because I have seen so many examples of resilience, strength, generosity and growth among the people I know over the last two months. Only time will tell how we will move forward, but I for one am rooting for a better future.

The current situation has inspired me to do a lot of writing over the past months. As I saw organizations struggling to respond to the COVID-19 disruptions, I identified a need for information about a variety of marketing and communications topics.

As some states begin reopening, libraries and other public institutions must also plan how to reopen. I wrote this after listening libraries and thinking about how they can apply the principles of crisis communications, marketing and public relations to their reopening plans.

I have also been finalizing my book for ALA Editions. I had the opportunity to re-read and edit it after the impacts of COVID-19 had begun, and was happy to see that the principles and strategies in the book are very relevant and applicable even in this changing climate. 

I hope you find some or all of this content helpful. My hope is that we can all learn from this situation and each other, and that by documenting and sharing what we learn, we can help each other navigate these uncharted waters.
