The state of emergency was extended by the government until 28 March. The Czech government has enforced strict new measures around the country in an effort to lower mobility and prevent the collapse of the health system as coronavirus infections soar.
New restrictions are valid from 1st March to 21st March. It is banned to travel to other within districts (okres) with exceptions for medical reasons, work or to care of a relative (visits to family and friends are prohibited); it is compulsory to wear a respirator (at least FFP2) or mask with nano-filter in public places including public transport, shops, but at workplaces as well; schools and kindergartens are closed and much more.

Welcome to Ostrava!  Here you’ll find some important information about how to use public transport in our city.

Ostrava trams, buses, and trolleybuses are easily recognizable. They have a significant light blue and white color combination. Most vehicles are modern, air-conditioned, low-floor, and have functional free wifi.

Ticket payment is also very modern in Ostrava. You can simply pay contactless with your debit or credit card.  Another option is to pay with a prepaid card, which you will buy at turquoise ticket machines or you can pay with the “MojeDPO” mobile application.

In Ostrava, we have three categories of tickets. See Fares and tickets for details.

Last but not least, there are 8 Rules for using public transport in Ostrava.

The website of the Ostrava public transport (DPO) will also answer the following frequently asked questions:
