Close To The Nature

The Closed to the Nature event took place on September 4. The event was attended by a total of 7 people and there was a pleasant atmosphere in nature associated with learning about historical fragments of nearby Ostrava villages. There was a snack in the Plesenská Kafrárna café combined with tasting of cheesecakes and burčák. Check all photos here.

OEC at Ostrava´s Events

OEC participated in 3 events organized by Ostrava - Zažít Ostravu jinak, Ostravský kompot and Zažít porubu jinak. We got from expats interesting feedback about what they miss in Ostrava, e.g. people in the city centre during evenings and weekends, free parking places, public toilets, bins for glass, pub quizzes for expats.

Alliance française d’Ostrava organizes the traditional French Autumn in Ostrava.

The Festival starts on 14th October with a French chansonniers' concert. Check their websites and stay tuned!

Discussion: Steven Holl in Ostrava

Steven Holl, one of the world’s most acclaimed architects, will introduce his work to the Czech audience.

He will discuss one of his recent projects - Concert Hall in Ostrava – with the audience in Ostrava on October 14th 2021.

Ostrava žije vínem

Enjoy a day full of wine in the industrial environment of the National Agricultural Museum Ostrava in the Dolní Vítkovice area! 15 Moravian and foreign wineries will come to present their wines. Of course, there will be great refreshments and musical performances.

Feast at the castle - it's great food, drink and fun. You can look forward to a gastronomic area, a chilli show and live cooking. We offer great beer and wine. The accompanying program will include regional bands, a theatre and a program for children and adults.

Festival Bez Hranic

From September 30 to October 10, 2021, the Czech-Polish conurbation of Český Těšín and Cieszyn will host the 30th International Borderless Theater Festival Bez Hranic. Visitors can look forward to seventeen extraordinary theater performances from the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.

Why should you read this? If you are struggling to decide where would be the best for you to settle in during your stay in Ostrava, should it be long term or short term, let me help you.

Let me also help you with the understanding that no matter where you decide to live, you will be able to get to all the other places quite well, as the public transport here is very reliable. I lived in the UK for 7 years and for me, to use public transport from one town to another was almost a heroic act. Not here, not in Ostrava.
