USEFUL INFORMATION:
 
Ministry of Interior has a special contact for Ukrainians:
  • Phone number for support: +420974801802

Basic information:

VISA No. 1: If your visa expires in 14 days or less, you need to stop by the MINISTRY OF INTERIOR "MOI" (Department for Asylum and Migration Policy) and they are going to give you a SPECIAL LONG TERM VISA. If you are in Ostrava, visit the address: Výstavní 55, 703 00 Ostrava.
 
VISA No. 2: In case your family comes to the Czech Republic, they are allowed to stay here for 90 days WITHOUT ANY VISA, only with their biometric passport.
 
From FEB 25, citizens of the Czech Republic, the EU, their family members, citizens of Ukraine arriving in the Czech Republic through Ukraine DO NOT HAVE TO fill in an entry form, have a negative PCR or vaccination certificate.
 
Ministry of Transport allows Ukrainians to travel for free on the trains of České dráhy (only with a Ukrainian passport).
       
Ostrava and Moravian-Silesian Region help:

On 1st March there was opened Krajské asistenční centrum pomoci Ukrajině (KACPU) in Ostrava. This MAIN CONTACT POINT is in operation 7am - 7pm at Červeného kříže 4 street.
  •  They will process visas, health insurance, humanitarian help and coordinate accommodation for Ukrainians.

2️⃣ Our partner 3ADVOKÁTI offers law consultation and they also have important connections if you need help in some specific situation.

3️⃣  COLLECTION PLACE in Ostrava for Humanitarian help. Bring supplies to help the Ukrainians to Ostrava, Wattova 797/17

4️⃣ Moment - Prospěšný second hand is organizing a collection of needed things. They will bring it to Ukraine.

5️⃣  Ostrava Expat Centre is able to provide information in Ukrainian with the help of a native speaker volunteer.

6️⃣ Ostrava Expat Centre offers help with PSYCHOLOGICAL assistance! Send us a message, email or come to OEC and we are going to connect you to therapists (this service is available in Czech for Ukrainians)

7️⃣ Crise Centre Ostrava (Krizové Centrum Ostrava) offers help as well! Expats in need can reach out for psychological help. This service operates mainly in Czech but also in English, through email, it is also possible to obtain assistance.

 (Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre) is offering co-working spaces for Ukrainian businesses, write to us (OEC) if you are interested.

1️⃣1️⃣ Ukrainians can travel at Dopravní podnik Ostrava a.s. (Ostrava Public Transport) for free. Just with the passport or identity card.


1️⃣2️⃣ If you travel with your pets, there are no travel restrictions. Once you arrive to Moravian-Silesian, you will have to take them to a check-up. We have a veterinary English-speaking, who can help you. Be aware that this service is not for free. For more information, contact OEC via email info@ostravaexpat.eu or messenger.

March is the month of the tax declaration in the Czech Republic!

Once a year you are obliged to fill in and file your tax return. The deadline for filing the last year income tax return (but also for paying the tax) is at the end of March. In the case of processing and filing the tax return through an advisor, the deadline is postponed to July 1st, but in this case, please do not forget to submit the power of attorney granted to the advisor to the Tax Authority by March 1st....read more.

CORONAVIRUS IN CZECHIA:

The numbers of new COVID-19 infections per day are still quite high. Still, countries all over Europe have slowly begun relaxing ongoing restrictions, including the Czech Republic. The Czech government is canceling the obligation to present a COVID-19 certificate in restaurants and other establishments. The Ministry of Health is also ending mass testing in schools and companies.

HOW TO TEACH IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

 

Do you want to teach? Do you think teaching is your life mission?

Here is what you need to do:

There are different conditions for teaching your mother tongue and for teaching other subjects.

If you want to teach common subjects, such as physics, you must always meet the same qualifications, regardless of nationality. This means that if you want to teach subjects other than a foreign language and you have obtained a qualification in a language other than Czech (i.e. studied abroad), knowledge of the Czech language must usually be proved and you must have an education in pedagogy. That means you need to do the following:
