May 2019 Newsletter
This has been an incredibly exciting time in my life! Last weekend, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with my bachelor's degree, double majoring in saxophone performance and jazz composition.
I had some really fun performances recently as well. My senior jazz composition recital was on April 11 and my senior performance recital was on May 2. I am so grateful that both bands were incredible and comprised of my dear friends and colleagues. I also had my final performance with the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra on May 7. I dreamed of being in the BCJO or having them perform one of my pieces by the time I graduated. I was fortunate to have both of those dreams come true on that performance. Videos coming soon!
I am looking ahead to great things happening this summer. I will be performing and lecturing as part of the IAWM and FT&M15 Conference in early June. I am preparing for my position as a teaching fellow at Interlochen Center for the Arts. I am also gearing up to start my masters studies at New England Conservatory this fall.
I am so grateful to have so many wonderful things going on and incredibly thankful for all the supportive people in my life who keep encouraging me to push forward. Onward and upward!
Cheers,
Sam
