The Episcopal University of South Sudan
University Partnership
Students undertaking their final examinations of the first semester at St John's College in Wau, South Sudan.
Dear friends,

With Christmas around the corner, we bring you a round up of the latest news from TEU and ECSSSUP. Thank you for your ongoing support during a year of unprecedented challenge! Despite difficulties, TEU staff, the members of the Governing council, and the participating colleges in Juba, Maridi, Wau, Renk and Kajo-Keji, have made incredible progress towards the crucial work of sustained peace and development through education in South Sudan. ECSSSUP also has exciting news to share that will enable a step change in our partnership with TEU next year - read more below!

Over the last two years, ECSSSUP has been committed to paying for the salaries of the core TEU team in Juba. In the long-term, as TEU moves towards being financially self-sustaining, these costs will be met through student salaries and income generating activities.  But, for now, we are so thankful that through a combination of regular giving and one-off gifts we have been able to meet this need. Thank you!
In 2021 we would love to be able to fulfil the whole of this commitment through regular giving, so that one-off gifts can be used for other urgent needs. That means that our target is to raise £6,000 more regular giving per month than we currently receive: a tall order! We turn to you, our friends, for support. Please consider giving regularly to enable us to continue working for a better tomorrow for the people of South Sudan. It goes without saying, without your generous support, the Episcopal University of South Sudan – and all the hopes and dreams that it represents – would not exist.

We look forward to staying in touch with you and hope you enjoy our final newsletter of the year.

May the Christmas message of hope and peace bring you joy even in these troubled times,

Eeva John

A significant donation will enable us to start building the Rokon campus.

We are incredibly grateful to have received a donation that will allow the TEU team to start design and building work for the Rokon campus. ECSSSUP and TEU are working through plans with Engineering Ministries International (EMI), a global Christian construction company that specialises in developing countries. First thoughts include building part of the fence that is needed to secure the land, as well as developing some of it for agriculture as a way of strengthening partnerships with the local community and generating further income for the university. We can't wait to share more with you as plans develop - watch this space!
A meeting of the Principals from the different Colleges that make up TEU in Juba in November. They agreed safe reopening plan for colleges in February 2021, lecturer recruitment requirements, fundraising strategy and the establishment of new financial systems across all the colleges.
St John's College in Wau is in the process of upgrading and improving their Library, following the donation of over 500 books from Book Aid International. Can you help? Get in touch with ECSSSUP.
