We are looking forward to our hybrid 6th IAWM International Conference of Women's Museums at Women's Museum Hittisau, Austria.

PROGRAM
 
The first evening (Aug. 31) is open to the public. A piece of music from a “choir of mothers”, a hot air balloon in the shape of an udder, a clash of western and Mexican birth cultures - the opening evening of the IAWM 2021 Conference Hittisau: And still we* create has it all, with a colorful range of artistic performances on the subject Birth. At the 6th International Conference of Women's Museums between August 31 and September 3, we will offer a varied program from lectures, film screenings and performance artists. 
 
Wednesday (Sept. 1) is entirely dedicated to the subject of childbirth. There will be performance art, vibrant and informative lectures, plus a film screening and a storytelling café. 
 
During our private sections of the conference, to be held on Thursday (Sept. 2) and Friday (Sept. 3) , we will meet for the General Assembly, for other IAWM conference content and for the election of the new board. There will soon be more information about the conference program and the agenda on iawm2021.space. 
 

CALL
 
Have you already worked on birth cultures in your museum? Are you interested in presenting your project in the "Bits and Bites" format (10 minutes)? Please send your proposals to iawm@frauenmuseum.at by 25 June 2021 including

• your name
• function at the museum or initiative
• short biography (100 words)
• title and short description of the presentation (250 words) 

 
We will include up to 5 contributions in the program. The selection will be made by our cooperation partner, IG Geburtskultur a-z. The association is committed to an interdisciplinary and cultural view of human birth.


HYBRID FORMAT
 
Despite the ongoing pandemic we want as many people as possible to be able to participate in the 6th International Conference of Women's Museums, therefore the conference is a hybrid event, both in person and online tickets are available. Details on the program and registration are available online at iawm2021.space.
