It is not rocket science, as you are probably already negotiating most days of your life the trick is to keep hold of your common sense during the meetings. Preparation is key. Going into a meeting know what you want to get out of it, you may not get it or get all of it, but you are already at an advantage relative to others in the room. Relentlessly assess you value to them relative to their next best alternative. Be very clear in your mind about your own costs, priorities and room to maneuver.
