Growth through Connections and Opportunities
October 4, 2019
Royal Expectations!
This month, our school-wide theme is Skills for Learning: listening, focusing, using self-talk to stay on-task, and being assertive when asking for help with a learning task. In our morning announcements, we'll be reminding students of these skills, which helps students be successful learners.

Please let me know if you'd like more suggestions about supporting skills for learning at home or check out the Second Step website.

50 Questions to Ask Your Child Instead of "How Was Your Day?"
From the website herviewfromhome.com

Here are some ideas to (hopefully) get your kids talking about their school day:

  • What made you smile today?
  • Can you tell me an example of kindness you saw or showed?
  • Who did you sit with at lunch?
  • Tell me something you know today that you didn't know yesterday.
  • What was the hardest rule to follow?
  • What made your teacher smile?
  • What made your teacher frown?
  • If you could switch seats with anyone in class, who would you switch with?
