Volunteering Programs

We are starting a weekly trail maintenance and trash cleanup program every Thursday, weather permitting. From 10 - 11am, we will have tools and gloves available so we can work together and remove non-native plants and litter!
Seasonal Changes

Late autumn is a great time to notice that many trees are not completely bare. Come out and hike our trails, and if you look closely you might notice that some trees keep their dead leaves throughout the late fall and winter (a process called marcescence). Many trees already have leaf buds in preparation for the spring ahead. The American Beech is a great example of a tree that grows new leaf buds while holding onto its dead leaves. You can see many American Beech trees on the trails directly behind our Campfire Circle.
