Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote
December 2020 Newsletter

What a year! In January 2020 we were looking forward to a tour of Ireland, a performance in Amsterdam, a raft of new UK venues and premiering a shelf of new episodes. Nevertheless we still managed to present a Covid-safe version of the show eight times (no singalong, no party poppers) and audiences were incredible, being both enthusiastic and keeping to the rules. Thank you everyone and here's to a better 2021.

A DORK IN DORKING
So pleased to have presented the show at a new venue in December - the glorious Dorking Halls. A lovely crowd of socially-distanced fans were treated to "A Christmas Secret", enthusiastically jingling their bells at the sight of anything remotely festive. Hope to return in 2021 with a new episode - watch this space.
SOLVE ALONG ON THE BBC!
The premiere of Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote in Paignton in December was also the re-opening of the glorious Palace Theatre, so BBC Spotlight Devon did a lovely story, crossing live to fans outside the venue and a bit of silliness from yours truly. Have a look and a giggle here
NEW EPISODES ON TV
Sony Channel have announced the broadcast of a heap of new Murder, She Wrote episodes and we're delighted. Whole seasons have been missing from the schedule so there's plenty of fresh mysteries to enjoy. (Yes, we know the show was cancelled in 1996, but you know what we mean by 'new'!)
NEW SHOWS AT THE RVT
The birthplace of the show is the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, and in between lockdowns we managed to present two premiere episodes: "Murder Takes the Bus" and "Paint Me a Murder", as well as "Southern Double-Cross". Can't wait to bring these episodes to new venues soon!
2021 TOUR DATES NOW ON SALE!
Of course it's all subject to change, but if you share a bit of JB Fletcher's optimism then please feel welcome to book for any of our upcoming shows! From January we're post-Yuletide so it'll be a non-festive episode, but might make a lovely gift (hint hint!).

DOUBLE-DATE AT THE PRINCE CHARLES
We were lucky enough to present "A Christmas Secret" back-to-back in December, which despite a few technical difficulties was a joy. Please support the venue if you can by buying annual memberships or gift vouchers - this is a unique cinema that shows movies for film buffs all year long and we'd hate to lose it.

BOOK REVIEW - CARDS ON THE TABLE
Fangelas will know that the character Jessica Fletcher was intended to be a cross between real-life author Agatha Christie and fictional sleuth Miss Marple, but astute readers will know that Mrs. Christie created her own alter ago many years ago, in the form of Ariadne Oliver. Mrs. Oliver began assisting Parker Pyne, but makes her first appearance alongside Hercule Poirot in Cards on the Table (1936), a delightfully contrived puzzler in which four detectives and four murderers are invited to play bridge, with deadly results. Like Christie, Oliver grew to detest her own creation, in this case the Finnish Sven Hjerson. Great fun.

WHICH SHOW NEXT?
Fingers crossed I'll be hosting a brand new show at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on 21 January 2021. But which one? I can't decide between Menace, Anyone?, a tennis-themed show starring Linda Hamilton and Bryan Cranston and Another Killing in Cork, which sees JB return to "Ireland" for more blarney-tinged intrigue. Let me know which one I should do next - the poll closes in one week!
