Free Leaf Bags are available at CB14

DSNY will collect leaves for composting on Sunday, November 20 and Sunday, December 4, 2022. Leaves can be set out for pickup on any regular garbage collection date, but leaves set out on dates other than 11/20 and 12/4 will not be composted.

Request free leaf bags from Brooklyn Community Board 14 by filling out this form or by calling 718-859-6357. Once you place an order, please call or email to let us know when you would like to stop by the district office (810 East 16th Street at Avenue H) to pick up your bags. We will be distributing bags throughout the month of November.

Leaves should be set out after 4 PM on the Saturday before collection, preferably in 30-gallon brown paper lawn and leaf bags or in unlined garbage cans labeled “yard waste.” Plastic bags cannot be used to discard leaves during the leaf collection period. Leaves in plastic bags will be collected with trash on your regular garbage pick up day. Yard waste from landscapers and other hired professionals cannot be included. Click here to learn more about DSNY's fall leaf collection program.
