We all know the importance of this election. So much is at stake. Have you voted? What is your plan for voting? On election day, by mail, or in person at the registrar? These are all very important questions, but I write to you to share my support of Amendment 1 to our Virginia Constitution.
If approved by the voters in this election, our congressional and legislative districts (the House of Delegates and State Senate) will be drawn by a bi-partisan group in meetings open to the public. In years past, these districts have been drawn in back rooms with gerrymandering running rampant. If we do not approve this amendment, the Democrat majorities will have their way of cutting up the current districts into a new liberal majority for years to come.
Let's end partisan gerrymandering in Virginia.
By approving and voting yes on one, Virginians will have an open and fair process in the creation of our legislative districts. I hope you will join me in supporting this critical amendment in this election.
If you have any questions about this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me.
