With only less 6 months to go until the 2019 edition of the World Table Tennis Day it is time to start thinking of what you are planning to do.

Every year we set a new record, last year, we brought together 95,000 participants around 579 events organised in 97 countries. An exponential growth in comparison with 2016 second edition with 158 events in 70 countries reaching 63,000 participants or the 2017 edition which reached the incredible number of 453 events and 90,000 participants.

However, it is not only about numbers for the ITTF Foundation. Indeed, in 6 months we have enough time to ensure another successful year of events however, what is also important is the purpose of your event. Each year, our newsletter zooms in on a different topic and provides useful tips to support your World Table Tennis Day event.

In 2016 it was about event organisation, in 2017 about diversity in the different target groups, last year it was about different places where one could organise a World Table Tennis Day and this year we want to build on all this experience you have gained and make it more about you and your purpose.

This year, is about “Table Tennis for Your Local Purpose”. We are interested in the issues that are close to your heart and what topics you are tackling through your event.

This year is about you. You: Non-Governmental Organisations (ONG’s), clubs and National Associations were the top organisers, which took table tennis to different locations, such as: schools, universities, hospitals, shopping malls, streets, beaches, parks, rural areas and even the high seas.

In the past the participants were children and young people, who took part in activities, such as: games, short exhibitions, tournaments mixing genders and participants challenging elite players in schools, parks, clubs and shopping malls. This year, we really would love to hear what you are trying to do with this event. Not only your target group, location but what is your story and what does your event create, how does it have an impact.

We look forward to welcoming more people to join the celebrations of World Table Tennis Day in 2019 around the world, thereby generating new features and material to support organisers and motivate the participants in the future.
