Librarian Appreciation Week April 8-12
Thank you to Bailey librarian, Jennifer Ripstra, for her dedication to our school's library and her continual efforts to make it a place students like to visit! We appreciate you sharing your love of reading!
Participating in a sport next year? Don't forget you'll need a physical!
Congrats to Chamber Choir
Congratulations to Ms. Beasley and the Chamber Choir for an outstanding performance at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading evaluation on Wednesday. They received a 2, 1, and 2 on stage, and straight 1's in sight reading. A "1" is Superior, and "2" is Excellent. We are very proud of them and their hard work.
Volunteer of the Year
Over the last ten years, parent volunteer, Misty Forst has impacted Bailey and our students in a surprising number of ways. The current mascot costume, the scoreboard on the football field and the tennis court windshields and bounce backboard are all evidence of Mrs. Forst’s presence on our campus. As her youngest son, Jason, prepares to move on to high school, we wanted to give Mrs. Forst and her entire family a big shout out of appreciation, because we know that when one person volunteers, it often impacts the other members of the family as well.
During her years at Bailey, Mrs. Forst served as Athletic Booster Club President, started the Theatre Arts Booster Club and served as President, served on our PTA, chairing numerous socials and events, helped with PALS, coordinated other volunteers, and chaperoned more field trips than you can image! She has continued Bailey traditions and started new ones. She’s helped former Bears earn their Eagle Scout Award while making improvements to Bailey, and coordinated Girl Scout painting projects and campus cleanups.
We appreciate the time and energy Mrs. Forst has given to Bailey, and are grateful to have had her as a strong supporter for all these years. Once a Bailey Bear, always a Bailey Bear.
Parent Ambassadors of the Year (make that GRANDParent Ambassadors) Linda & James Dickerson
Chances are, if you’ve ever stopped by the school office during the day, you’ve had the pleasure of being warmly greeted by grandparent volunteers Linda and James Dickerson. As retirees and wanting to be active in their Granddaughter’s lives, Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson have volunteered at each school that their Granddaughters have attended. At Baranoff Elementary, they volunteered in the Library and the classroom, listening to students read. Here at Bailey, they assist parents and students in the front office and worked in what used to be the School Store. Currently, at Bowie High School they volunteer in the school Library.
We are always grateful for volunteers at Bailey, but are extra grateful to our grandparent volunteers, who seem to have a special effect on all the students, parents and teachers they interact with.

PTA Searching for Friendly Faces
Bailey PTA is still in need of a MEMBERSHIP CHAIR for the 2019-20 school year. This position starts big in August, and pretty much wraps up by November. The ideal chair would be organized and good with spreadsheets.
Our neighboring high schools are beginning to share their camp information with us. We will do our best to pass along what is sent our way, but it is always best to check the high school websites for the latest info.
