We are excited to expand our partnership with The Salem Pantry to provide support at their Mobile Market at North Shore Physicians Group in Salem. This outdoor food pantry distribution site will take place every Thursday afternoon, year-round. We are looking for some more SPUR volunteers to join us in helping food pantry recipients fill bags with canned foods, frozen products, and fresh produce. Food pantries like this provide critical support to households experiencing food insecurity in our community.  Since the start of the pandemic, we have seen those levels rise dramatically, fall gradually, and the rise again.  Today, 18% of households in Massachusetts experience food insecurity - a higher rate than we have seen since the pandemic began. For families with children under the age of 18, that number goes up to nearly 26%.  The time you spend volunteering at programs that fight food insecurity help ensure these families have adequate food to lead active, healthy lives.
Volunteer with us.
Providing a hot, nutritious meal for neighbors facing food insecurity is a fun, easy way to volunteer as a family.  Volunteer with your favorite sous chef to prepare 10 servings of a healthy dinner at home to be served at a local shelter.
Through our partnership with Shubie's and Crosby's, SPUR's food rescue program delivers prepared food that would otherwise go to waste to organizations fighting food insecurity thanks to volunteers like you.  Learn more and become a food rescue volunteer today.
It's another busy harvest season in the SPUR Community Roots Garden at St. Andrew's.  Join us daily to weed, water, harvest, or deliver fresh produce to local organizations fighting food insecurity in our community.

Join us in the SPUR office to pin, cut, iron, and sew colorful cotton pillowcases to be used for Bundles of Cheer for the SPUR Holiday Cheer Drive.  Whether you're an experienced seamster or new to needlework, come create with us.
Deliver Meals and Fight Food Insecurity
Weekly meal deliveries from Root provide neighbors experiencing food insecurity with delicious and nutritious food prepared by students in Root's culinary job training program.  Volunteer to deliver packaged meals to young people in foster care at the Plummer House on Tuesday afternoons or families living in the Salem Housing Authority on Thursday afternoons.
