In honor of International Coastal Clean-Up Day, SPUR is partnering with Sustainable Marblehead to clean coastal and inland spaces in Lynn, Marblehead, Salem, and Swampscott on Sunday, September 20 from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Volunteers are welcome to join us at 21 area parks and beaches on foot, kayak, paddleboard, or boat to clean up trash and debris left behind from summer fun or that has washed ashore from afar.

To protect the safety of our volunteers, all participants commit to adhering strictly to current CDC guidelines.

Thank you!
Through the SPUR Student Success Back-to-School Drive, we hoped to provide 600 local students with the tools they needed for successful in-person or remote learning, but because of the generosity of our Community of Doers, we were able to donate new backpacks filled with supplies to 663 area students!  Thank you to everyone who shared, filled, sponsored, or championed from afar.  We are humbled by and truly grateful for your generosity.
An Update from the SPUR Community Roots Garden at St. Andrew's
Whether you have a green thumb or no gardening experience at all, fall is a great season to join us in the SPUR Community Roots Garden! Our garden at St. Andrew's Church offers many flexible opportunities to volunteer for the whole family.  For garden novices, our garden team will share detailed instructions on how to weed, water, or harvest all of the produce we grow before you arrive and detailed instructions can also be found in the gardening guide on the potting table.

This month, we will be planting cold weather crops to extend the life of the garden and continue harvesting and delivering produce into the late fall.  Email our garden team to join our list of volunteers.
