Does anyone else agree that the second half of this year seems to be flying by? In this brief life update, I intend to give you a visual insight into some of my favourite moments from the past several months.
Nate (a colleague) and I combined our very limited building knowledge and experience to build a new staff kitchen. It took us many long days and several return trips to Ikea, but we did it! Working on this project was so fun and rewarding.
Our first meal as a kitchen family in the new kitchen :)
I went to Prague on a last minute trip to celebrate my birthday. Lots of fun was had. I'm so thankful for cheap and quick travels within Europe. Living here has it's perks.
In Berlin with some lovely pals. We took a bus back to Amsterdam from Prague, and we stopped in Berlin for one night.
Three of the students from the September DTS that have been helping me everyday; mainly by cutting onions - what a blessing. Teaching the students and having honest conversations with them has gone from the thing that had me the most nervous, to being my favourite and most life-giving part of my job.
In October, I had the honour of cooking at a wedding in the French countryside for a couple that works on our base. The entire 32 hour trip felt like the most beautiful dream.
My dear friend Calli came for a visit. I have so much love for her <3
Candlelit tea times :)
My parents came to the Netherlands!!
What a privilege it was to show them my home and life here. I will forever cherish the time that we had here together.
I was able to witness my parents fulfill their lifelong dream of seeing windmills in the Netherlands.
Ask them about their trip, I'm certain that they'll be more than happy to talk about it!
From my car in Canada to my bike in Amsterdam, dad is always quick to fix my daily driver. I am blessed.
And mom can't resist to bake me my favourite desserts. She even packed a whole pumpkin pie in her suitcase. I am blessed.
Prayer Request

As I mentioned in the first line, these are just some highlights. I'm fortunate that my schedule allows me the flexibility to have loved ones visit or to take short weekend trips. What is not shown is how busy I have been. The combination of physical kitchen work, everything that goes along with having a life in a foreign country, and feeling the pressure to stay connected to life in Canada has me feeling quite overwhelmed lately. I long for rest. The struggle is that I don't know what rest looks like for me.
- Will you pray that I will have a greater understanding of what rest is and how to rest, both physically and mentally. What does it mean to rest in Jesus?
- Will you pray that I can learn how to balance Dutch life and Canadian life better?
Thanks for tuning in. Hopefully you've enjoyed the more visual approach to a life update. Until next time,

peace and blessings,
