Hi there,

Busy week. Busy, busy week. Sun and 75 also means Saturday was spent with the afternoon outdoors and in front of a grill rather than a laptop. I hope you were able to enjoy the same and are in the queue for a vaccine soon.

Weekly Song: Hard Sun

Hard Sun is the song that plays in the final scene of Into The Wild, the movie about Chris McCandless's adventure shedding all his personal possessions and road tripping up to the Alaskan wilderness. Unfortunately, Chris starved to death after 100+ days living in a van he found out there.

Here is the music video that contains footage from the film.

Last year, authorities removed the bus as it had become a dangerous tourist destination. It was moving to see it airlifted out by a helicopter.

I can see the appeal of the spiritual experience as demonstrated by this video log from two pilgrims who reached it by helicopter and spent the night.

"Happiness is only real when shared" was the last sentence Chris wrote before he died alone in that bus.

I always liked the song Hard Sun. It's well matched to the movie.

Hard Sun by Eddie Vedder

When she comes to greet me, she is mercy at my feet
When I see her bitter charm, she just throws it back at me
Once I dug an early grave to find a better land
She just smiled and laughed at me and took her blues back again

There's a big, a big hard sun
Beating on the big people
In the big hard world
