Easter Reflections

Last year, to help people celebrate Easter while worshipping at home, we created a series of daily reflections which we emailed out each day of the week leading up to Easter. We had such a positive response to this that we've decided to do it again this year!

Starting next Monday, we will be sending out a daily reflection each day up to Easter Sunday. These will also be available on Facebook and our website www.terrigalunitingchurch.com/easterreflections

Minister's message

The sun is shining, the rain has stopped and we can sing without a mask! I know there is still COVID-19 in the world, but we have started the vaccination and if there are no more outbreaks in Australia we can start to work out what our new normal can be.

For over a year now we have been working out how to do church in the middle of a pandemic. There have been lock-downs, singing bans and so much more. There are still restrictions and things we will have to do to keep each other safe, however, like the sunshine coming out after the last couple of weeks of rain, there is a feeling of tentative new hope and new possibility breaking through.

Now our task for the next year is thinking through how we draw ourselves back together. How we foster a strong community that cares for those who continue to join us online in our live stream of the 9.45am service, as well as welcoming those who want to join us in the building in gathered worship.

It will take us a while to re-establish ourselves after the year we have just had. But the task of worship, witness and service - that is, the task of being a church - is what we are called to do. It is time to start setting our path to the new normal.

I wonder what part you will be playing in the future of our church.

Blessings,
Richard

Easter at TUC

As we head towards Easter, we are reminded of how Jesus fixed his eyes on Jerusalem, knowing what lay ahead, but willingly walked towards the cross.

Lord, help us this Easter to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Lord, continue to remind us that Jesus suffered and died for us.

Again and again, may we rejoice in the resurrection and our life with Christ.

Lord, bless our community and church as we gather together this Easter. May our hearts be filled with joy and each of our services full as we come together to celebrate God’s love.

This week we praise God and pray for...

  • Give thanks for easing of Covid restrictions
  • Equity in vaccine distribution around the world
  • People affected by recent floods
  • Preparation for Easter services
  • People still searching for work

Some additional points are listed on our prayer boards at church:

Service Rosters: May-Oct

The Uniting Church NSW/ACT Synod is starting a new program called Growing Young, which aims to help the church consider how young people are included and discipled within the life of the church.

They have invited us to participate in this program and our leadership team has taken up the offer.

As a result we are asking you to complete this GROWING YOUNG SURVEY sometime over the next 3 weeks. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to finish.

If you don't have an email or computer please contact the church office so we can arrange for someone to help you.

We hope this process will help us nurture and encourage the young people in our church community.
