In this email you will find the latest updates and information from Terrigal Uniting Church. If you would like something to be included in future editions, please get in touch!
Greater Sydney is currently undergoing 3 days of heightened Covid restrictions. Unfortunately this means we need to wear masks on Sunday (9th May), and there can be no congregational singing. Morning tea will also be called off and we will be postponing our Pizza Sunday fundraiser until next weekend (16th).

Minister's Message

Before mother’s day became the enormous commercial juggernaut that it is today it had very humble beginnings, honoring mothers who worked for peace or mothers who showed love in simple church services.

Apparently, the first gifts in Australia associated with Mother's Day happened in 1924 when Sydney woman, Janet Heyden, was inspired to collect charitable gifts for lonely, older mothers in Newington hospital who had lost husbands and sons during WW1.

Whatever you are doing for Mother’s Day, whether it be simple or extravagant, may we all thank God for the gift of mothers and all they do in this world.

Blessings,
Richard

This week we pray for...

  • Wesley Mission & Edward Eagar Centre
  • People who are homeless
  • India
  • PNG
Some additional points are listed on our prayer boards at church:
If you have a prayer request, you can email it to prayer@terrigalunitingchurch.com, or place a note in the prayer jar (near the prayer boards) at church.

Pastoral Note

A Memorial Service for Laurie Reid will be held at Terrigal Uniting Church on
Saturday 22nd May at 11am.

Please continue to hold Faye and the family in your prayers.

People who are homeless

Thank you for your continued support to the prayer focus.

As winter approaches we may embrace the cold nights and warm homes but there are many in our community who are not so fortunate.
This month our prayer focus is around people who are homeless and the organisations that tirelessly work to feed, clothe and provide shelter for those in need.

We pray that we will all have a heart of compassion that goes beyond prayer as we look to those who are homeless, or struggling just to make ends meet.

We pray multiplication of supplies and shelter to enable no-one to go without this winter.

We bless the organisations and volunteers that provide love and care for people who need their support.

You will hear more over the next few weeks including our guest on the 9th May from Wesley Mission.
