Minister's Message

Caring for one another

I have never had to register to worship God before and I suppose neither have you. That is just one of the strange things we will have to get use to as we gather together for worship in this new world we are living in.

Some people greatly value singing in worship, and it will be a real struggle not having that as a part of our service. Some value the sense of community in the passing of the peace, but we will not be able to do that either. And for those who like to have a coffee after church and then go to a cafe on the way home as well, sadly there will be no coffee at church - you will have to have two at the café!

However, just because it is not what we are used to doing does not mean we can't worship God. We go to church not for entertainment, not for a sing-along, not even for a fabulous morning tea after church. We go to praise, worship and honour God. In the coming month we will be doing that in a way that is different, but we can still come to church with the same motivation that we always have in worship.

Another part of coming along to church is the community that we worship with. In our online services we have still been worshiping together, just in different houses. Coming back to the building, we will be able to worship with others in person, but still some of those things that unify us in worship like singing and the passing of the peace will not be there. However we can encourage one another and support one another as we grow in faith.

I am really looking forward to us joining together again for worship in our building. Step by step, our world is returning to normal. May we rejoice as every part comes back.

In the years to come may we reflect back on this time and remind ourselves how much we value a church where we can gather together in song, praise and worship.

See you soon,

Blessings
Richard
