Minister's Message

How do we stay true to God in an ever-changing world?

Some days I feel like everything in the world around us is always changing. Two years ago my family and I were planning our first overseas trip as a family to Vietnam. A trip that never happened. Now I am looking forward to my second vaccine shot so that I can comfortably travel to my family in Melbourne and Tassie and not cause an accidental Covid-19 scare, as some travelers from Victoria have done through western New South Wales.

It's not only things related to Covid-19 that are changing. Our attitudes to the environment, culture and history are also constantly shifting. Yet God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

How do we take the words and actions of Jesus from 2000 years ago and apply them to life today when the world is so different. Jesus was teaching a pattern for living in relationship with God, not a set of rules to follow. Instructions like love your neighbour can apply both to how you lived in Israel-Palestine 2000 years ago, when there was a cluster of small villages, as easily as it could to that same place today when there are walls and great political divides.

Blessings,
Richard

Whole of church Bible Study - Week 3

This week we explore the theme: Politics - how involved should Christians be?

If you have not yet joined a Small group and would like to, or you would like to participate in a group over Zoom, please email the church office.

There are still booklets available in the foyer, or if you would prefer to complete the study electronically, you can do so using one of the following links:

Online Booklet (not editable)
PDF download (editable)
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

St Francis of Assisi
