Minister's message

I have been without my fishing boat for a couple of months now waiting for it to be repaired. I hate waiting. I like things done now. I think most of us are like that. But sometimes it is important to wait because the anticipation can make the end result all the better.

The first mostly calm Thursday after I get my boat back, which will probably be in December, I will be like a kid at Christmas out on the water.

We have started to hear about Christmas around us and I know my scripture kids are very excited about Christmas being on the way. As the weeks go past, and the counting turns to days then finally hours, the excitement will build as we approach the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth. Waiting can build anticipation.

As we look to the horizon of the next couple of months there is so much that we can be hoping for, looking for, and praying about. 2020 has not been the best year in Australia's history. As we start looking forward and praying for 2021 and beyond, let us pray that God can bring new life and hope to the horizon we look toward.

Upcoming Events

There is so much that we need to be praying about at present, along with bringing hope to our community this Christmas.

So as we lead up to Christmas, we invite you to join us for a Prayer and Fasting time at Terrigal Uniting Church: Saturday 12th December 11.30am – 1.30pm.

The idea is to go without lunch, if you are able, and spend time with God. There is plenty of space at the church and surrounding area to be Covid safe.

Fasting is mentioned throughout the Bible and and it is a time where we forgo something natural, to spend time with the supernatural. Many spiritual breakthroughs have come from prayer and fasting, it helps with our spiritual strength as well as strengthens our prayers.

If you are unable or hesitant to come to the church, then we encourage you to do this from home. For those who can, we’d love to see you at the church. No food, but please bring your own water bottle.

You will need to sign in on the day, but no need to register ahead of time.

November Prayer Focus: Emergency Workers

Fires, floods and storms are very much a part of our summer months. We only have to remember 12 months ago and the devastation that our nation suffered. Today many are still struggling with the effects.

Our prayer focus for November is our dedicated people who respond to disasters of any kind. Many are volunteers, and they include, but are not limited to; Rural Fire Service, SES, Marine Rescue and Emergency Services.

Please remember to thank these people when you see them and ask the question: How can we, as a local church community, be praying for you at this time.

For more information or to send your prayers:

A Rise Retreat is an invitation to stop the madness and the noise, for a moment.

It is an invitation to slow down, quieten the spirit, and tune into the still, small voice of God, whispering to us by name, reminding us who we are and who God is.

On a Rise Retreat, you will have the chance to connect with others as much or as little as you want, and engage in new and ancient spiritual practices that are easeful, and nourishing.
