Minister's message...

Most nights this week, Suzanne and I have been going down into the paddock behind our house just after dusk, because for about 3 weeks a year we have fireflies in our back yard.

We noticed the first one on Sunday night, as we have been anticipating their coming and have been looking out for them. Since they have started, we have been watching the little flashing lights of fireflies each night. They are a beautiful and enchanting thing as tiny bright lights strobe out of the darkness. I feel privileged to be able to watch them.

Fireflies glow in the darkness proudly displaying their position. As Christians, we are called to be light in the darkness, radiating our faith out into this world.

I hope through our life and our actions, our faith can be as clear a contrast as a firefly is to the night around it.

May you shine into this world.

Blessings
Richard

Kids and Youth

4:12 Kids and our youth group 4:12 returned last Friday, with lots of fun games and activities.
Both groups have lots of exciting things to look forward to in Term 4!
It was also great to get kids church back up and running during our 9:45am family service!

Operation Christmas Child

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far to our October Congregational Project.

We had a good response to our 'Buy-a-box day' on Sunday, with many contributing to the cost of a pre-made box. Thank you to Irene for all her hard work over the past year to make and collect content for these boxes, and also to Peter, Mary and Howard who helped put them together.

There are still a number available which will be at the church until the end of October, before they are sent off on the 2nd November.

If you would like to buy a box for $30, please transfer your money to the church account: BSB 634 634 Account No 100026775, making sure to add a description saying it's for Operation Christmas Child.

Bible Society Gathering

Wednesday 28th October at Terrigal Uniting Church

You are invited to The Bible Society's special 'Thank You Fellowship Gathering'. We would be delighted if you would join us to hear about the impact of the work you have enabled us to do. We will also enjoy sharing light refreshments together.

This is not a fundraising event; however there will be an opportunity to hear about our bequest program. To RSVP call Rhiannon on 0417 467 076 or email thankyou@biblesociety.org.au by 7th October 2020.

2021 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Training

Two Foundational training programmes in Pastoral care will be offered on the Central Coast in 2021. There will be an online and a Face-to-Face option. Starting in February students can train in Gosford Hospital and the training can be used towards formal chaplaincy qualifications with the Sydney College of Divinity.  What we offer is an excellent way to develop your pastoral ability and become equipped for ministry with a public or church setting.

If you are interested in training or for further information please contact:
Chaplain Frank Wortley on 02 4320 2253 or Francis.Wortley@health.nsw.gov.au
