Minister's message

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and it is the day that starts the season of Lent in the church calendar. It is a time of preparation for Easter.

In Luke 9:51 Jesus sets his eyes toward Jerusalem. Jesus intentionally walks towards the cross for us.

In the season of Lent, we are invited to turn our eyes towards what Jesus Christ has done for us.

This year we have purchased a resource from a group called A Sanctified Art with a daily devotional through the season of Lent. I would strongly encourage you to get a copy of this.

They will be available in the foyer from this Sunday, and if you could leave a donation for printing costs that would be helpful.

Spend 10 minutes a day reading the day's reflection and praying. Jesus sets his eyes toward Jerusalem for us. It would be good for us to set our eyes toward Christ as he journeys to the cross for us.

Blessings,
Richard
This Easter season, we will be exploring the theme 'Again and Again - a Lenten Refrain', using some excellent devotional material created by the team at A Sanctified Art. The following is an excerpt from the devotional.

In the season of Lent, we’re reminded that, again and again, suffering and brokenness find us. We doubt again, we lament again, we mess up again. Again and again, the story of Jesus on the cross repeats—every time lives are taken unjustly, every time the powerful choose corruption and violence, every time individuals forget how to love. With exacerbation we exclaim, “Again?! How long, O God?” And yet, in the midst of the motion blur chaos of our lives, God offers a sacred refrain: “I choose you, I love you, I will lead you to repair.”

This Lent, may God’s steadfast love cradle our laments. May God’s grace wash over our weariness. And may we bring all of who we are to God—trusting that God will meet us, time and again, along the way.

If you are unable to come into the church at this time, and would like us to mail you a copy of the devotional, please contact the church office.

This week we praise God and pray for...

  • Frontier Services - Outback Links
  • Easing of Covid restrictions
  • Kylie & Seang in Cambodia
  • Election of church elders
Some additional points are listed on our prayer boards at church:

February Prayer Focus

We continue our prayer focus this month on Teachers, staff and all students. Thank you for supporting them in your prayers.
Last year was difficult for all involved in education and we pray that this year runs smoothly without any disruptions.

Please be praying for:
  • Mental Health & Wellbeing of all students
  • Building of friendships
  • Students remain engaged and enthused about education
  • Students starting new schools that they will find friends and settle in quickly

From a High School Teacher:
  • Sustained enthusiasm towards learning for both students and teachers
  • Positive relationships between teachers, parents and the community recognising that they all want the best for the students
  • Students may feel safe in school and that schools remain safe places
  • Teachers feel supported and encouraged in what they are doing

If you are a teacher, staff member or student, we’d love to hear from you. How can we, as a local church community, be praying for you at this time?
