Advent Organ Recital
Trinity Las Americas UMC will present an Organ Recital, featuring Dr. Miriam Zach, on Sunday, December 22, at 3:00 PM.   Dr. Zach is on the Music Department faculty at Iowa State University, having previously taught at the University of Florida and at the Universitat Bielefeld in Germany.  The Program will include some sing along carols as well as beautiful organ selections.  Trinity Las Americas is located at 1548 8th Street, in Des Moines.  Tickets are not required, but a free will offering will be taken.
Join us for our Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols on Tuesday, December 24 at 7:00 PM.  Hear once again the story of God’s loving purpose for our lives.

One-half of our Christmas offering will be given to UMCOR and designated for relief from unprecedented flooding in the Mabaan region of South Sudan.  Family members of our Mabaan congregation have been adversely impacted by the flooding.  The other half of our offering will be given to the General Board of Global Ministries to support Chin Cho, our covenant missionary now serving in Mongolia.

Shared Worship at 10:30 AM on Sunday, December 29th.   Join Mabaan UMC, Diferente Latinx, and First UMC for worship and a shared meal following.

Sunday, December 29th brings an International YumFest!
Representatives from First Church and Mabaan UMC will work together to prepare a meal featuring favorite dishes from their home countries including lasagna, green bean casserole, chicken and rice, eggrolls, jello salad, fruit and pie!
YOU are invited to join in the eating!  Free will donations will be accepted to help fund future shared events.
Help us know how much food to prepare by signing the back of the attendance insert this Sunday.

The Outreach Ministry Team invites you to stop by the Giving Tree in the Narthex and take one or more ornaments for items on the Children and Family Urban Ministries’ Wish List.  You will find books, games, crafting supplies, etc. to be used in their children and youth programming.  No wrapping necessary.  Please return your gifts to the tree by December 29.  Thank you for sharing!
 We Can Use Your Help
First Church is without the services of a janitor. We are currently in the recruitment process but until we find the right person, we need to keep the church clean. We are looking for folks to help us out on Mondays and Fridays. You can give us as much time as you are able. Please see the sign-up board in Kenyon Hall for tasks. Questions? Talk with Pastor Edgar or Christine.
