Volunteers are needed to help prepare the evening meal for the Central Iowa Shelter on Wednesday, December 2.

Join us for a Zoom Advent Study

Wednesdays at 6:30 PM

December 2, 9, 16, and 23

This four-week Advent study challenges us through story, art, and Bible study to discover what it means to be Christ’s hands, feet, head, and heart.

Lessons and Carols with Simpson Youth Academy

Simpson Youth Academy (SYA) invites you to join them on Saturday, December 5th, at 6:30 for a virtual Lessons and Carols experience! A live Zoom with student reflections and conversation will take place at 6:30 PM, followed by a beautiful service with readings from youth and music from Simpson student choirs. Tickets are free. Feel free to invite friends and church members! To register, please email director Eric Rucker at: eric.rucker@simpson.edu.

Mental Health Clinic

Many people are experiencing changes in their mental wellness-to-illness continuum.

If you're experiencing a mental health crisis, UnityPoint Health – Behavioral Health Urgent Care is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 1250 East 9th Street in Des Moines. (515) 263-2632

This is a walk-in clinic for adults and/or children, staffed with professionals to determine if the feelings are a temporary situational effect or of clinical concern. Either way, they can suggest resources and/or referrals to help.

Dear Friends,

Once again, we are suspending in-person worship at First United Methodist Church.

The Corona Virus infection rate is rapidly increasing in Polk County. For your safety and for the safety of our entire First Church family, we will be holding virtual worship only through the first Sunday in December. Watch for further communication about the status of in-person worship later in December.

In the meantime, be sure to join us for worship beginning this Sunday, November 15, at 10:30 AM by logging on to Face Book (www.facebook.com/DSMFirstChurch) or YouTube channel (DSM First Church UMC).
