Governance - Planning Day

In February 2020, the CEnet Board and Steering Committee met for a planning day. This important annual session provides an opportunity to guide the initiatives taken by CEnet on behalf of its Member Dioceses.

The event focused on review and discussion of CEnet’s 2020-2024 Strategic Plan, which was provided as a draft for consultation. The draft plan was the culmination of a ten month review and consultation process conducted by Pitcher Partners on behalf of CEnet and involved many key personnel from within the CEnet membership giving generously of their time.
Prior to discussion of the draft Strategic Plan, the Board and Steering Committee had the opportunity to reflect on the purpose of CEnet, and the progress the company has made on behalf of Member Dioceses, during a panel session facilitated by Alan Ibbett, CEnet Steering Committee Member and Chair of the Corporate Services Standing Committee.

After receiving the draft Strategic Plan, participants had the opportunity to discuss the document and to provide feedback.
The revised document was presented and approved at the April meeting of the CEnet Board and steps are now commencing to enact the strategy.

Governance - Reasonable Market Value Review

CEnet's Audit & Risk Management Committee recently commissioned a review to confirm that CEnet services are provided at "Reasonable Market Value" (RMV). The purpose of the review was to support Members in their annual compliance obligations to various authorities.

The review was comprehensive encompassing all services and the associated supplier contracts. The review was completed in March and delivered to the Board last month.

The conclusion drawn in the report was that CEnet's procurement frameworks effectively managed the risk of reasonable market value not being delivered to the members and as a result, any risk of non compliance was rated as low to negligible. This outcome is a credit to CEnet's procurement and administrative function and highlights the high standard set in the delivery of services to Members at the best possible value.
Member Collaboration - Professional Learning Resources

The Catholic Learning Online Summit, coordinating team finalised the review of the 5-day event this week and the report is now available. The document provides insights into the success of the event and the experiences the planning committee have identified that will inform future events.

The summit delivered 30 sessions across five days and the report notes that the website which was used to deliver information before and during the Summit will remain as a legacy of information.

Infrastructure - Zoom Video Conference Service

The Zoom Video Conference service continues to grow in popularity with the number of minutes that staff within the CEnet membership spent taking advantage of the service increasing by almost 265% between March and April and the number of Zoom meetings doubling.

To meet ongoing growth, CEnet procured additional Zoom Pro licences for Member Dioceses in April with the total number of licenses now available, being 36,000.

As part of ongoing member support, a video conference meeting was held in April with Zoom Administrators from Member Dioceses, regarding administration, meeting security and student on-boarding, Administrators also received an updated Zoom Meeting Defaults and In Meeting Control document which now covers Zoom on-boarding for students. 

CEnet has also engaged with the technical team from NSW Department of Education responsible for Zoom configuration and roll-out. A joint meeting was held in late April and was mutually beneficial.
