The Diocese of Lismore has produced "Taking Flight with iPad" Apple Book series. The student series has been designed to teach K-6 students how to care for iPad, and prepare and approach iPad for a day of learning in a fun and creative way. The activities also give students the foundational skills they need to express themselves through drawing, photography, video, and music on iPad.

Staff and students are now able to borrow magazines on the device of their choice through Sora. All magazines are available as Simultaneous Use, meaning there is no waiting — simply borrow the magazine, download it to your device, and enjoy reading the articles.
Magazines for Kids
Magazines for Teens
Magazines are on loan for 14 days (then self-return) and do not count towards your total number of other loans in Sora. Back issues of the magazines are also available.
Magazines for Adults
The collection has something for everyone with over 390 titles covering education and special interest.

The addition of magazines with Simultaneous Use licensing has been very well received by member dioceses. Here is an example.

This is a fabulous initiative, our schools are very excited to explore the new collections! Thanks to all involved or organising.

Have a look at this short video or this how-to page for more information on enjoying your favourite magazine.

Microsoft Mondays
It is well documented that young women are under-represented in STEM subjects and careers. Today, only 17% of Australian IT and Engineering University graduates are women which has a knock-on effect on representation in the tech industry.

Microsoft ANZ is partnering with Girl Geek Academy, education social enterprise, to launch the Girl Geek Academy x Microsoft AI Series – a free, digital program to inspire and educate young women in Year 7-10 to build STEM, Coding & AI skills.

This initiaitive builds off the pilot program run in January – June 2021, which saw 400+ girls across the country, from 180 schools, provided with access to learn from 40+ Microsoft mentors, and saw some incredibly creative AI projects!

Sessions will take place every Monday after school from 5pm – 6:30pm (AEDT) from October 2021 – June 30 2022.
