Create a Beautiful Splash of Fall Colors
If you choose the right perennials, you can create a spectacular color show in your yard each Fall! Above is a combination of Goldenrod, Brown-eyed Susan and rich purple New England Asters.
These are late flowering perennials, rich in nectar to attract butterflies and bees. All are deer resistant and drought tolerant.

Make a Homeowner's Journal:
As soon as you close on your new home, start your Homeowner's Journal. You can either use a 3 ring binder to create a paper version or you can set it up on-line. Either way, it's important to keep insurance papers, warranty information, painting and repair receipts, and all other paperwork pertaining to your home in one place. At some point down the road, you will need this information for something, like when you need a repair and you want to check your warranty;  when you want to check the date you replaced your dishwasher or water heater; when you need to find that paint color you put on the shutters last year; and importantly when you assess improvements at the time you put your house on the market for sale. A Homeowner's Journal is a sales "plus" when selling your home.
Halloween is just around the corner!
If you're into Yoga, you will really enjoy this new "Halloween Yoga Skeleton Collection" available at your local Michael's store.

Meet Our Agent of the Month - Andrea Furtado
Andrea Furtado, Realtor
Congratulations to Andrea Furtado, our August Agent of the Month!

Andrea specializes in helping first time buyers find their dream home! She has been working diligently in our development of new homes at Candlelight Village in Bellingham, MA, and during the month of August helped 5 new families find not only a new home, but a new community! She also helped one new owner in our Upton development at Whitney Farms.

All 5 Bellingham families work in Boston and wanted to buy new construction, single family homes in the $400,000 price range. They found exactly what they were looking for in our new Bellingham homes and loved the location where there are two commuter rail stations nearby plus easy access to I-495, I-95 and I-90.

Not only did Andrea help these families find their dream homes and community, she also helped them secure their pre-approvals through Fafard's approved lenders.

"The best part of my job is helping people realize their dreams and finding exactly what they have been looking for! I love what I do! I l enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them, and helping them through the process of making one of the biggest decisions in their life! I focus on making a customer vs. making a sale."

Phase II of Candlelight Village still has a few lots left for sale, and Phase III will be coming soon. These are exclusive properties offered only through the Builder's Sales Office. If you are looking for what these families were looking for, call Andrea! She is a licensed real estate agent who specializes in new homes and resales. She also speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese. And if you are a first-time buyer, don't worry. Andrea will take good care of you through each step of the journey!

Andrea offers commuter office hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in our Ashland sales office at 102 Chesnut St. She lives in Framingham with her two children and loves to travel.  She can be reached at 508.881.6662 or on-line at

Chocolate Zucchini Bread
from Better Homes & Gardens
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 1/2 cups coarsely shredded, unpeeled zucchini
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1 1/4 cups dark chocolate pieces

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom and 1/2 inch up the sides of two 8x4x2-inch loaf pans; set aside. In a large bowl stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Make a well in the center of flour mixture.
  2. In a medium bowl combine eggs, zucchini, sugar, oil, and vanilla. Add zucchini mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy). Fold in nuts (if desired) and 3/4 cup of the chocolate pieces. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pans, spreading evenly.
  3. Bake about 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on rack.
  4. In a small saucepan cook and stir the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate pieces over low heat until melted. Drizzle melted chocolate over loaves. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.
