"You cannot go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending."
- C. S. Lewis

Welcome 2022! Let's make this year our best year yet!

Come Join Us!

Below is our Schedule

Tuesdays with a Twist!
7:00 pm
Tuesdays are informal and flexibly structured. Meeting on Zoom, we socialize, brainstorm, and get some words down on the page with timed writing sprints.

Email us for the Zoom links. We sure would love to see you!

Thursday Gatherings
Zoom meetings start at 7:00 pm
Thursdays are a little more structured. The first Thursday of the month we Meet in Person at 6:30 PM. We start out with our social time, followed by announcements, then we split into groups for critiquing and fun writing activities.
The in-person meetings are at Marshall's BBQ at Josey and Rosemeade in Carrollton
All other Thursdays we Meet on Zoom.

On the third Thursday of every month, we welcome an industry professional guest speaker to share some of their writing-related expertise.

Writers: Things to Do

The book you are dreaming about, write it!  You and the world need  it.

Write once a week, don't let technology distract you.

You are unique and special and so is your writing, don't compare yourself to others.

Make friends and give to others.

Steve's Writing Corner

You can expect Steve's Writing Corner on the first Thursday of every month, where one of our members gives a live reading of an original piece.

Last Month, Sandy Payton, was our reader and shared a story with the group.

Email us for the Zoom links. We sure would love to see you!

May Speaker

We welcome Amber Helt as our Guest Speaker this month.

Amber Helt believes in gardener-minded editing.

She wants to be a gardener to authors, not a florist. The florist does beautiful work; they clip and arrange your flowers into a bouquet that will look stunning on the table. Then it wilts you will have to go back to the florist for a new bouquet.

Amber is like a gardener, she plants, nourishes, and prunes the flora so they come back season after season.

She doesn’t want to just polish what we give her—she wants to equip us to be a stronger writer, more profitable author, and a lasting member of the writing community.

Amber's Company-Rooted in Writing works alongside authors to deliver engaging, absorptive novels that readers won’t want to put down.

Works in Progress

Dale Denton
Dale is currently working on multiple books in his modern fantasy series. Each are at various draft levels for three books and 100 pages into the fourth book. Dale is also working on a partial stand-alone book, plus some flash fiction.
Jeanette the Writer
Jeanette has written two "hint fictions"  which hint at a whole story in less than 25 words.
The automatic feeder filled the overflowing bowl, leaving small rounds of kibble pouring across the floor. The cats ignored it, having found something better.
Wedding Day
A bride can certainly have a drink after her nuptials. Pounding shots while hanging off the side of a bridge is another matter though.

Sandra Payton
Sandy is working on an addition to the comedic fairy tale that she is writing.
