"The writer is by nature a dreamer -- a conscious dreamer."

-Carson McCullers
Welcome 2022! Let's make this year our best year yet!

Come Join Us!

For the safety and comfort of all our members, we currently only meet through Zoom.

Tuesdays with a Twist!
7:00 pm
Tuesdays are totally informal. We socialize, brainstorm, and get some words down on the page with timed writing sprints.

Thursday Gatherings
7:00 pm
Thursdays are a little more formal. We start out with some social time, followed by announcements, and then we split into groups for critiquing and fun writing activities.

You can expect Steve's Writing Corner on the first Thursday of every month, where one of our members gives a live reading of an original piece. On the third Thursday of every month, we welcome a guest speaker to share some of their writing-related expertise.

Email us for the Zoom links. We sure would love to see you!

January Speaker

This month, we're so excited to welcome William (Bud) R. Humble and his presentation, Stick the Landing: Building Reader-Satisfying Conclusions.

Does the end of your story need a little something more? In this session, we'll go over how to put the zing into your story conclusion and leave your readers wanting more.

William R. Humble is a native Texan who's been writing for longer than he feels comfortable admitting. Though he's dabbled in other literary areas, his love of speculative fiction keeps drawing him back.
To learn more about William and future releases, to go and follow him on social media.

Wanting to help others achieve their literary dreams, William joined the board of directors for W.O.R.D. -- Writers Organizations 'Round Dallas. There, with the help of other like-minded folks, he strives to help other writers find their teams, and to make the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex a nationally and internationally renowned center for the writing arts.

William is also one of the three founders of Writers in the Field. Bringing experts from all over the country to share their expertise, this unique annual event features as many 'hands-on' experiences as possible.

Special Announcements

As many of you know, Carrollton League of Writers has helped support Rwandan priest, Donatien Gilga Ndacyayisaba, and the five Rwandan orphans in his care for a few years now through our beloved Nancy Golden. In most African countries, children must pay to go to school, and one trimester of study and boarding for all five children is about $450 US dollars, along with a $50 wire transfer fee.

Once again, you all have come through! Thank you all so much for the love and support you provide. It really does change the world for these precious children.

Nancy is also donating 50 cents for each book sold of her science fiction novel, Alien Neighbors, to help support the Rwandan orphans under Donatien's care.

If you would like to contribute for future trimesters, please email Nancy Golden, or you can PayPal her your donation at (please use the "friends" option). Nancy is not a non-profit, so she can't provide a receipt for tax purposes, but once fees are paid, Donatien will send a copy of the receipt to ensure that all money donated went toward educating these children.
Our anthology is in progress. We're currently researching publication options. For those who expressed interest in helping with the editing process, please don't forget to reach out to Tom.
