“I just want to be like a city on a hill (Matt. 5:14) and shine the light of Christ on my campus and throughout the word” - Abby Oster (See above pic of me and Abby)
This was Abby’s answer when I asked her about her vision for her campus. You may remember in my previous letter I talked about how three students from Seton Hill (independently of each other) reached out to start a Cru movement on their campus. Abby Oster was one of those students and it’s been such a joy to get to know her better and hear about her heart to see her campus reached. I’m so excited for what God is doing through her and her classmates at Seton Hill and grateful we get to be a part of it. (Side note: Isn’t it cool that Abby wants to be a “city on a hill” and her campus is “Seton Hill”, “City on a hill”, “Seton Hill” they sound kind of similar, don’t they?)
Speaking of Seton Hill, this past month has looked different than past semesters for me, as I have juggled three different campuses (IUP, Penn Highlands, and Seton Hill). Thank you for praying for me as I seek the Lord to discern what my involvement and time on each campus will look like. He is answering your prayers and guiding me as I plan my time. As I have divided my time between different campuses, my involvement in our students’ daily lives also looks different. Instead of connecting with each student, I focus on equipping and empowering our student leaders on each campus who then connect with others - to share the Gospel, follow up with new believers, encourage/ help each other grow in their faith, and continue to know God and make Him known after they graduate - which really is the prayer and vision. As Abby said, I want to be like a city on a hill and encourage other “cities” who encourage other "cities" to shine their lights as well!
