The students, Phil, and I before the PSU Altoona Cru outreach

October Happenings (2022)

I Want Candy

Last Monday, armed with bags of candy and flyers, PSU Altoona Cru students, Phil (my boss), and I canvased campus inviting anyone we met to Bible study. We ran into Wendy* (a student who recently moved from China) and after a brief convo (maybe 30 seconds), we handed her a sticker and she went on her way. It didn’t seem like anything would come of that convo, so you can imagine my surprise when at 5:30 she walked into the student center and asked, “Is this where the Bible study is meeting?” For the next 60 minutes we studied God’s Word together. When we talked about John 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life,” (Jesus speaking) it was clear that Wendy* was eager to learn more. Even though I had to leave after the study (I had another Bible study at SFU), Alexis and a couple other students stayed after and talked with her. Later that evening, I got a text from Alexis. “We got to talk to Wendy* and give her a Bible. It was one of the best moments!” It was so encouraging to see Wendy’s* desire to learn and Alexis’ desire to share. Please pray that Wendy* continues to come to Bible study and that we can continue to share the hope of Jesus with her!

In case you missed my last newsletter, Noah and I got engaged!!! We’re both very excited  for what the Lord has in store for us.

(Side note: If you did not get my newsletter about my engagement, please let me know. I send out an email every month, so if you aren’t receiving emails every month, please reach out so I can make sure I get it to you. I want you to know what God is doing through your partnership. Thanks!)

There are only two full weeks left in the semester.  Please pray for our students as they prepare for finals, winter break, and graduation. Please also pray for Winter Conference! Winter Conference is a great time for students to spend a few days together growing in their faith and in community. Please pray students come and that the Lord builds strong friendships amongst them. Community is something I’ve really seen lacking on our campuses and I’m hoping Winter Conference is a good start.
