One of my favorite parts of summer mission was getting to co-lead Bible study with my friend Megan and mentor two of the girls (Kelly and Nicci).

June Happenings (2022)

Two Worlds, One Family

What happens when you have 16 college students from different cultures and backgrounds living together for a summer? You get to see the Lord work in really cool ways in and through them. Getting to staff the Hampton Beach Summer Mission this past month has been such a blessing. I have gotten to see students take steps of faith - sharing the Gospel for the first time, showing God’s love to their coworkers, and growing in their love for God’s Word and the world. One of the coolest parts was having students from different backgrounds and political beliefs come together for the summer. The first five weeks I was there, they stayed up talking about different things. They lovingly engaged in conversation, willing to see things from others’ points of views. It was so encouraging and a picture of the unity (but not uniformity) I’ve been praying for in the church. Please join me in praying for this continued unity their last five weeks. For longer summer missions, the staff stay for the first month to mentor the students and help set them up to lead. Then the staff leave and the students continue leading on their own. Please pray for our students as they continue to show the love of Jesus to each other, their co-workers, and others in the New England community.

Love,
Rachel

Above - One tradition to help students get to know staff is a “staff scavenger hunt”. Staff dress up in different costumes and hide along the boardwalk. Can you find me?

Below -  Part of the summer mission is the students get jobs for the summer and learn how to share their faith with their co-workers. Megan and I got to surprise a couple of the ladies and visit them at work! Left to Right - Elena, Nicci, Katy

JUST AROUND THE RIVERBEND (What’s Coming Up)

Later in July I am going to Milwaukee for a week for a nationwide Cru staff conference. I am excited to get to meet and connect with staff from across the country. I am also excited to eat some really good cheese ;) After that, we are back in full swing planning for schools to come back in August - I can’t believe they come back so soon!
