Hello Everyone,

On behalf of the Salesian Community and of St. John Bosco High School we would like to celebrate and wish all of our mothers a very special and lovely Mother’s Day. Mothers play such an important role in our lives, one of strength and love. Don Bosco was very close to his mother, Margaret. She was someone that played an instrumental role in Don Bosco’s mission in life, and in animating the Oratory. In the original oratory in Turin, she became known as Mama Margaret to all the young men that found the oratory a home. She was a symbol of hope and presence that many of the young men needed at the time. As we remember Mama Margaret, we reflect on our own mother figures in our lives and the impact they have created within us.  Happy Mother’s Day!

This past week we celebrated an amazing Teacher/Staff Appreciation week, where we recognized and acknowledged all the educators our young men have at SJB. We are extremely grateful for all the dedication they give to our young men on a daily basis. On Friday we had a beautiful celebration to our Blessed Mother, Mary, and the boys took part in a day of games and activities.

As we close out the school year, with many activities to come, we appreciate your support and trust.

2021-2022 School Year Update

As we prepare for the upcoming school year we would like to announce our academic plan for the upcoming school year. Please note that all plans are subject to approval by the LA Department of Public Health. For the upcoming school year we are planning to return to all on-campus instruction. We will still offer online courses, but not in the hybrid fashion and not all classes will be available for online instruction. Our goal is to have all students return on campus for in-person instruction. We will also be returning to a 7 period semester schedule, the traditional schedule prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. A more detailed plan will be released this week that will have more information regarding the upcoming school year.

Online Learning for the upcoming school year is currently being drafted. We are anticipating that online learning will remain, but not in hybrid instruction. Not all courses will be offered online, due to restrictions or demands of the curriculum. Online courses may be offered as modules, and self-paced learning. Please note that our Online Learning is still being developed and information will be made available this week.

Class of 2021 Reminders
Graduation is around the corner-We are coordinating an event that must be in compliance with LA County Department of Public Health guidelines. As a county we are currently in the “Yellow Tier” which reflects minimal spread of the virus.  Our graduation and baccalaureate mass will be outdoors, and we will follow guidelines set for outdoor events.

Currently all Seniors will receive 2 VIP tickets. The event will be live streamed as well. However, we are also preparing a plan that will allow for more guests on top of the VIP tickets allocated. This plan will be sent out to the parents on Tuesday evening. We have an update from Public Health that day, and will send out the updated plan once we receive approval.

"Havana Nights" - Senior Prom 2021--Prom tickets are now on sale! $75/single; $140/couple. Tickets can be purchased from Ms. Schnorr in Room 203 or on the school website. Prom contracts and guest passes will be distributed upon purchase. For any questions, see Ms. Schnorr or email

Senior Celebration--Wednesday, May 19 at 1pm. This is a mandatory event for all Seniors. We will review all commencement activities and conduct a graduation practice. That day we will also have semester exams, and all students will take their finals virtually. However, we are encouraging seniors to come on campus to take their tests in person, so that they may transition into their senior event that afternoon. We have planned for that afternoon a senior luncheon and an opportunity to ring the traditional Victory Bell in the quad as they culminate their senior year. Seniors must wear school uniform or SJB spirit attire. Yes, we will be taking pictures of this special day and make them available for all!
