It's Just a Plant
Ricardo Cortés, author of Go the FUCK to sleep, released It's Just a Plant, a kid's book hoping to educate on safe cannabis use. It's got some great messages, but it's clear there's still progress to be made on appropriate jargon. It's 2020, we say cannabis not marijuana. 

Well sort of...
The cannabis sector is still hiring (Yay!) but there are fewer and fewer openings and most positions are temporary.

Kate Robertson of The GrowthOp recently published a rundown of the most commonly searched cannabis brands on the OCS, asking, "is brand recognition finally catching on among regulated cannabis offerings?" The topic of brand awareness is one we encounter frequently, and the data we have tells us that within the population of cannabis enthusiasts, strong brand preference is emerging.

Looking at OCS search data, we find a heavy overlap with brands with the strongest net-promoter scores (measured in the Cohesion consumer/budtender dataset). The top 10 Cannabis brands by NPS have an average score of +28, led by brands like Broken Coast (who have a dominant +46.6), RIFF (+30.3) and Redecan (+26).

Customers know enough about legal cannabis brands that they are searching for them by name. They are also searching for brands that come highly recommended by other cannabis consumers or Budtenders.

These are great signals that the investments in brand strategy, design, and compliant marketing are paying off.
