Right at the end of the year, Facebook released its Brand Collabs Manager. This allows content creators to get discovered and hired for paid partnerships so that they can promote the brand's products and services.

Facebook doesn't want its hardware like the AR-glasses or Oculus VR to be dependent on the Android operating system. This is the reason why Mark Zuckerberg initiated the development of a new OS. Facebook apps will still be available on other operating systems though.

This week Snapchat launched a new Ad format, where users can capture their reaction to a new video ad or trailer video. Further, they have the option to activate dedicated AR-masks and share the recorded content.
Also, Snapchat is rolling out Leaderboard Games, which let users compete against friends online and offline.
