Newsletter 29th March 2019 | Our pick of the most popular posts from the latter half of the month includes Jonny Best's thoughtful piece about the campaign to no-platform presenter Jenni Murray at Leeds Lit Fest. The response was mostly positive, though some amongst the trans community went on Twitter to denounce us for publishing it. We extended a right of reply to those groups highlighted in the article, but heard nothing back at the time of publishing.

This month we featured a run of top-notch interviews. We've gone for Robert Kilner's meeting with artist Glen Baxter and Anna Cale's incisive piece about director Carol Morley. (Check out Anna's fan-girl summit with Sleeper's Louise Wener for a sense of just how good an interviewer she is.) Phil Kirby, our resident Talbot Rothwell, reviews Benidorm the Musical, while Mick McCann and John Lake of Armley Press are this month's featured indie publishers. Blast from the past is Katie Fabri's preview piece of the Northern Art Prize, first published in March 2013.

Jonny's piece reminded us about the controversy surrounding Monty Python's Life of Brian (Leeds City Council banned the film from its cinemas first time around, along with The Clash's Rude Boy), so our video clip comes courtesy of Not the Nine O'Clock News
