Welcome to Tim Flynn
Tim Flynn recently started as Manager Corporate, Business and Finance with NIHRACS and is looking forward to his time on the island. His recent roles include interim CFO of Barambah Organics, numerous interim CFO/ Corporate Services Director appointments in the NT and FNQ in Health, Medical Research, Not for Profit, State Territory Government Departments. This included stints in Mornington Island, Tiwi Islands, Gove, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. Therefore, he has a strong understanding of the challenges associated with the delivery of essential services in remote locations.
Tim grew up in an Irish academic family in an English seaside town where "every day was like Sunday." He emigrated to Australia in 1993 and has worked in Afghanistan, Mozambique, the Solomon Islands, South Africa and Indonesia for government, humanitarian organizations and academia. He holds an MBA from Cranfield University in the UK and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He has one fifteen-year-old son, who lives in Canberra.
Tim has a passionate interest in Colonial Australian History and is an aspiring historical novelist. His most recent novel “Part an Irishman The Regiment” was set in 1840’s Hobart was published in 2016. This novel is part of a trilogy and the second book of the series is due for publication next year. The novel will be set on Norfolk Island in the last years of the convict settlement.
Tim is a sociable chap, and since he is here on his own, is generally ready for a chat.

Permaculture Workshop
Saturday 22nd October saw the last session of the 4 week Permaculture workshop. The participants all enjoyed the workshop and are very keen to start their gardens. A very big thank you to Jodie Williams who facilitated the workshop and to all that enrolled. If you missed out on this first program, we hope to run another course in early 2023 so please email karen.walker@hospital.gov.nf if you are interested in finding out more.

NIHRACS COVID & GP CLINIC UPDATE

Important COVID-19 Update from NIHRACS
On 14th October a number of changes were made to the requirements related to
COVID-19 on Norfolk Island to align with measures applied in Queensland and other parts of Australia.
- It is still a requirement to report to NIHRACS any COVID positive RAT tests
- If you are symptomatic, please call NIHRACS for any medical assistance
Masks are still required to be worn in NIHRACS and are recommended for any situation where you cannot socially distance from others.

Scripts
Please check your medication to see if you need a new script.
If you need a new script-ring a head of time to make a booking.
If you are on regular medications please allow adequate time for your script renewal as we are not always able to offer same day appointments.

Updating your details
NIHRACS have updated our Medicare Billing to an automated system. As a result of this, we will be calling residents who have expired card details on file to have this updated.
Please check your details ahead of any appointments and advice GP Reception with new expiry dates.

Prior to leaving the GP Clinic, please see the girls at the GP reception desk.
This is to ensure your appointment can be bulk billed to Medicare where applicable

The GP Clinic will call all patients who have been triaged by the Specialist to confirm an appointment.
