Santa's Arrival Event a Holly, Jolly Good Time

We invited Mandan to come out on Saturday, Nov. 27 to welcome Santa & Mrs. Claus to downtown Mandan, and there was an immense response from our awesome town, once again proving what Mandan is made of... family, friends and fun events. The Santa's Arrival Parade began at noon as scheduled from Hardee's on Main St. New to the parade this year was the BNSF mini locomotive, transporting Christmas carolers from the Mandan High School Choir. Leading the whole procession were members of the Rodeo Committee, and escorted by the Mandan Police Department.

After the Parade, Santa and Mrs. Claus were ushered from the horse-drawn wagon and into Signature Events in the depot building, to visit with each and every child. There was a "Letters to Santa" table to keep children occupied while they wait, and each child received a Santa goodie bag from a Mandan Rodeo princess.
Activities in the area included horse-drawn wagon rides, BNSF mini locomotive rides and s'mores roasting at the new fire pit.
Many photos from the day's activities have been uploaded to the Mandan Progress Organization Facebook Page-- take a look, you just might find yourself!

Additional Committee Members Sought for Art in the Park

The Mandan Progress Organization’s Art in the Park Committee is seeking additional members to help plan and oversee activities during the Fourth of July festivities.

The committee will resume meetings at the beginning of the year. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. at the MPO office, 411 W Main St. Member responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing arts and crafts booths by designating locations and insuring each booth is following guidelines regarding the display and sales of items;
  • Overseeing food booths by designating locations and insuring guidelines for the display and sale food items are being followed;
  • Securing entertainment; and
  • Overall supportive activities such as obtaining security, coordination, etc.
The time commitment is minimal, but does requiring additional time in the days leading up to and during the two-day event.

Art in the Park has been a part of Mandan’s Independence Day celebration for decades. Many members who have served a number of years on the committee have retired, and realize the need for newer, younger members to carry on the tradition.

Call 751-2983 or email Laura Duppong for more information or to sign up as a committee member.

2022 Community Calendar Arriving in December

Mandan and Morton County public and private entities have again partnered for a collaborative community calendar for 2022. They are sending the calendar in December to all Morton County mailing addresses. It will also be available online through websites of the City of Mandan, Morton County, Mandan Public Schools, Mandan Park District, and Mandan Progress Organization.

The calendar provides residents, businesses and visitors with important dates and resource information such as recycling and garbage schedules, major events and contacts.

A digital version at mylocalevents.org interfaces with Outlook and other calendar applications. Public information and marketing staff with each partner entity will update the digital version of the calendar throughout the year as additional dates become available for meetings, activities and events.
