CONGRATULATIONS TO CANON - ELECT FRANCIS HIGGINS!
Our very own Fr Francis has been invited by Bishop David to join the Cathedral Chapter and help advise him in a number of different areas pertaining to our Diocese.

The Cathedral Chapter is an important collegial body in many Dioceses across the world and is one of the only Diocesan institutions that remain in place when there is no Bishop. It also recommends names for consideration by the Pope when a new Bishop is being appointed! So, who knows, in a decade or two we could have Bishop Francis!!!

Canon - elect Francis will be installed during a Chapter Mass on Tuesday 13th July at the Cathedral.

NEW APPOINTMENT!
Bishop David has appointed our very own Fr Brendan as the new Chancellor for the Diocese of Northampton. Fr Brendan succeeds Monsignor Sean Healy who will be stepping down as chancellor after 14 years in the role.

The Diocesan Chancellor provides information and advice to the Bishop and other Curial Staff on the effects of canon law in pastoral practices. He shares, through delegation from the Bishop the responsibility in dealing with applications for dispensations and permissions, and the administration of the sacraments.

Fr Brendan has been appointed following a distance-learning study programme at KU Leuven in Canon Law. He has already achieved an MA in this and will hopefully gain the JCL this summer.

Bishop David said

“My congratulations to Fr Brendan for his commitment to a demanding programme of study whilst also being fully engaged in pastoral ministry. This is no mean feat!”

Fr Brendan will take up this role as soon as he completes his canonical studies in the summer

ROSARY IN IGBO
