The Margate Bookshop Newsletter V
I've waited so long for this!

Permanent shop coming soon!

A SHOP! I HAVE A SHOP! Friends and followers, it is with immense excitement that I announce that The Margate Bookshop has finally found a permanent home! A couple of weeks ago I picked up the keys to a gorgeous shop space in the heart of the Old Town. Having spent three years nurturing this dream while I searched for the perfect space in which to open a bookshop, this is huge news for me. The Margate Bookshop will be opening very, very soon – there will be a second newsletter this month to announce my opening day,  in the meantime, you can continue to buy books through the website.

Though of course I have my work cut out, I want to share with you the final steps between taking an idea and transforming it into something very, very real. I built The Margate Bookshop from scratch; though I ventured into this enterprise alone, it’s with the help and support of many wonderful people that this business has grown into what it is now, and it’s exactly your encouragement that has given me the confidence to make this my livelihood. You can watch the shop space slowly take shape over on Instagram and Facebook - I'm so excited to soon welcome everyone into The Margate Bookshop!

I fell in love with my shop before it became my shop.
I’ve inevitably changed the order of my priorities over and over, and as a result of this I haven’t actually made time to put together a real May newsletter. There are loads of new books I’ve added to the online shop, if you want to ask me about what I’m reading (currently Chasing the Sun) or about specific recommendations, wander around the Old Town and you’ll stumble upon me soon enough, either cleaning down my shop front, umming and ahing over which colour to paint it, sanding shelves, changing lightbulbs, nervously counting calendar days in my diary.

Thank you for the continued support, see you all very soon! Francesca x
Astonishingly one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make.
Playing imaginary bookshop.

New Stock and The Margate Bookshop Recommends:
The Order of Time
by Carlo Rovelli

The bestselling author of Seven Brief Lessons on Physics takes us on an enchanting, consoling journey to discover the meaning of time. With charm and a sense of wonder, this bestselling author brings together science, philosophy and art to reflect on its nature. Time flows at a different speed in different places, the past and the future differ far less than we might think, and the very notion of the present evaporates in the vast universe
by Sharlene Teo

One of the most popular books of 2018, Ponti is now out in paperback.Told from the perspectives of all three women, Ponti by Sharlene Teo is an exquisite story of friendship and memory spanning decades. Infused with mythology and modernity, with the rich sticky heat of Singapore, it is at once an astounding portrayal of the gaping loneliness of teenagehood, and a vivid exploration of how tragedy can make monsters of usBUY HERE
