As you may have heard we are using Schoology this year as our Learning Management System.  Schoology is an intuitive and user-friendly platform that will help students and parents access a dashboard of all the student's courses.

Advisory teachers will be sending out the unique parent access codes.

Here are a couple of helpful links to learn more about parent access to Schoology:

Financial Aid Night

FAFSA workshop-- on Wednesday, October 7, from 5:00-7:15.

It will be in the Commons.  We'll have 10 "stations" and you can sign up for 45 minute increments.  We'll have experienced help from the Fort Lewis Financial Aid office and Educational Talent Search.  If you come prepared with last year's taxes, the parent and Senior student will fill out the FAFSA on the spot!  This is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and it is the one-stop shop for all grants, loans and other types of student aid

Virtual College Visits/Fairs

In a normal school year, students would be able to attend College Fairs in person.  Colleges would also be visiting our high school to meet with students in person.  Since this isn't a normal year, everything is being offered virtually so students (and parents) won't miss out on anything!  Meet with admissions counselors to learn about admission requirements, scholarships, majors, and more.

SAT and Other Tests

SAT exams available this fall (free to Seniors!)

PSAT/NMSQT (free to Juniors!)

ASVAB - This exam is important for those who want to join the military but it is also very important for a junior who is worried about getting a good enough SAT to meet the graduation requirement.

Jonny Jenkins is our new Trio Talent Search advisor. He will be serving in both Pagosa Springs and Ignacio. He resides in the Pagosa area and has been busy connecting with Seniors gearing up for the year. Currently Jonny is recruiting the 7-11th grade students. As an academic advisor, Jonny can provide SAT/ACT preparation, middle school college camp, college tours to 7th—11th grade, College and Career Exploration, and one-one-one assistance with college, financial aid, and scholarship applications.

He can also provide 1-on-1  advising to seniors to help with scholarships, FAFSA, and fee waivers. Our students have been awarded the Daniels Scholarship, the Gates Millennium Scholarship, and so many others at the local, state, and national levels.  CSU awards any TRIO student who is admitted a $10,000 scholarship, and last year alone, we gave out over $62,000 in scholarship money to help our students go to college.

TRIO Talent Search is a program that helps you graduate from high school & continue onto the college or vocational school of your choice. Please visit the Trio Talent Search web site at and apply, find Jonny up in the library on his service days, or ask your school counselor, Mr. Thompson, to get an application. If you have any questions, please call the Talent Search main office at 970-247-7348.
